On Kuwait

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

I’m building up to a big vent about the dehumanised treatment of Southasian migrant workers slaving in Kuwait, one of these days. In the meantime, this is Lenin bhai on Kuwait and its Arab-brotherly squeeze on the ‘Iraq Rebuilding’ Project:
Of course, the biggest chunk of all [Iraqi] reparations goes to Kuwait’s state-owned oil industry, but […]

The Tosser Within

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Personal debt is huge. In the UK personal debt has exceeded £1.25 trillion and at the end of September 2006 it stood at £1,258bn. The growth rate has increased to 10.3% for the previous 12 months which equates to an increase of £109bn.
Total secured lending on homes has exceeded £1 trillion (£1,000 billion) and at […]

The N Word

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

“Political correctness gone mad” is the formula trotted out by those who oppose PC-creep (see CIVITAS) and hanker for a time when British society licensed the use of stupid and vulgar racism (see the BNP). An example of this is this blogger who thinks it is very clever to call some black criminals “niggers”. The […]

A New Agenda

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

This week saw the launch of the New Generation Network project. Sunny Hundal and his team of likeminded individuals have used Comment is Free to springboard the project manifesto and a personal statement on the ideas behind the project. The sentiment and concept of this welcome movement is encapsulated in this passage by Sunny:
In calling […]

MPAC Funded Irving

Monday, November 20th, 2006

The Observer has delivered, it likes to think, a scoop: The prominent (read - ‘on the telly often’) Islamist Asghar Bukhari, founder of MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Committe AKA mpacUK), and high-profile Media-endorsed “Muslim spokesman” has admitted donating money to David Irving, Holocaust revisionist and convicted historian.
MPAC identifies itself as part of the British […]

The Blind Leading the Brain-Dead

Friday, November 17th, 2006

This report is from the Torygraph, so it’s veracity could be regarded questionable if not wholly suspect. But judging from the content, it sounds completely in character with the Hizbut Tahrir. These are the words of an HuT infiltrator:
In a mocked-up video shown to new recruits, a woman interrogator at Guantanamo Bay was shown wiping […]

New Kid in Town

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Mrs Sid and I became the happy parents of a baby boy last week. We have given him the name Rishi, which means sage in Sanskrit. He wasn’t named after Rishi Kapoor, 70s superstar hero and Kapoor family thespian, but this piece of classic Bollywood schmaltz certainly played a part in the decision making process.

Liberal Creep

Friday, November 17th, 2006

We have to deport terrorist suspects whatever their fate.
So says Nick Cohen in an article which sets a new low by so called British liberals in their rapprochement with governments who are willing to do their dirty work for them. In this case, Cohen is willing to reinforce the New Labour canard that old rules […]

Road to a Sharia State

Friday, November 17th, 2006

In this new paper [PDF], published under the aegis of the Hudson Institue (a right-wing think tank), Maneeza Hossain draws a very detailed picture of the radicalisation of political Islam in Bangladesh. She argues that Bangladesh could become the major front in the global confrontation with radical Islamism.
If democracy is preserved and enhanced, Bangladesh can […]

It’s About Bloody Time

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

My usage of the word ‘bloody’ here in the adjectival as well as mild expletive.
From a BBC blog [Justin Webb]:
President Bush, faced with the prospect of a bitter fight with the newly powerful Democrats - a fight he would probably lose - has opted for appeasement. He has thrown raw meat to the Democrats, in […]
