Orhan Pamuk Wins

The Prof Yunus celebrations have eclipsed slightly, for me at least, another great piece of Nobel news: Orhan Pamuk, Turkish writer, has won the Nobel Prize for Literature. What a superb choice. A profile of the man.

Orhan Pamuk is great, but personally, I was hoping to see Mario Vargas Llosa win this year. My second choice would have been Milan Kundera.

orhan pamuk is well known for his anti turklishness.
it is not a coincidence that the french has passed a bill on the topic he is controvertial for. is he in favor of turky getting into eu or are the french eager for the 100K votes of the armenians.

now if you say the genocide was ok you get jail in france and if you say the genocide was not fair you get jail in turkey. but the point remains, what the french had to do with the armenian genocide. don’t you think its 90 years too late for the french?
