Taking it easy

Sid would like to apologise for going AWOL on Serious Golmal.

The self-imposed break in blogging over the last few weeks have been due to real life events involving illness (my wife’s, she’s better thanks), ennui (my own), reading, shopping, eating, cooking and watching films on DVD.

Abnormal transmission will resume shortly.

And now for the religious messages:

Rosh Hashanah to the J-people.

Ramadan Mubarak to the M-people.

Welcome back, Sid. Look forward to your seriously golmalic posts being resumed. Would you recommend anything from the list books or dvds you’ve been enjoying?

  2. Sid H Arthur Says:

thanks kobial. nice to know people are reading out there.

unfortunately a lot of the reading has been work related but then I enjoy my work. Other non-fiction:
The Heart Must Break - James Mawdsley. On the recent history of Myanmar and the struggle for democracy.
Sacred Drift: Essays on the Margins of Islam - Peter Lamborn Wilson. Wierd but well written.

    Also been meaning to read:
Salaam Brick Lane: A Year in the New East End by Tarquin Hall.

OK, I only saw one DVD: Spring, Summer, Winter and Spring again. It was worth it.

glad your wife’s well - when’s the baby due?
i hear the tarquin hall book is pretty good..

  4. Sid H Arthur Says:

She’s relatively better, thanks Sonia. She gets gestational diabetes and PuPPP (a rare skin allergy) which both magically clear up within days of the birth. We’ll both be happy when she finally has the baby in November.

  5. sonia Says:

oh dear the poor thing! Fingers crossed for November.
