Remember when I said here that Michael Steele, the new appointed black Republican leader, was a token and a lightweight? And people said, oh no way… it can’t be true.

Well, Michael Steele has been saying that he wants to bring a hip-hop makeover to the GOP, and indeed he has been talking like a 90’s rapper in the media, even though he clearly didn’t use that language before. But that’s tokenism for you. And the lightweight part? He had the gull to say that he was the leader of the GOP, not Rush Limbaugh - and the latter was an entertainer whose show was incendiary and ugly…… he was forced to apologise the day after.

But what does Michael Steele have to do with Slumdog Millionare? In his embarrassing attempts to talk street-wise, this exchange happened.

Jindal and Michael Steele are Republican tokens, in a time where Republicans think that Obama won because he was coloured (!). Jindal has the potential, but he is a product of Rush Limbaugh, and I believe Jindal lacks the balls or convictions to do what is right.

And Michael Steele will not last long.

Yeah, those Steele attempts are really lame. In fact there’s a parody video of that floating around too, see it on Ta-Nehisi Coates.
