Some people seemed to like the last cartoon I did (or they were being polite), so as cartoons are so damn popular now, I figured I’d do another.

    Prescott & Cheney

Jon Stewart, Dave Letterman and co. have of course been having a field day with Dick’s tricks. But the biggest laugh I got from them recently was Stewart’s headline whilst talking about that cartoon controversy. It simply read:

    Mohammed, mo’ problems.

Oh, here’s something that didn’t merit a post (pictures) as within a day it was resolved, complete with apology.

Oh that advert of Durga was seriously cool! Not blasphemous at all, if you know anything at all about heterodox/tantric/folk worship traditions in hinduism. Too many fucking ignorant, bhajan-chanting and ridiculously pious hindus around. what the hell were the Sikhs doing getting in on this protest? Not enough misused Guru Nanak pics to get into a lather about?

Were you on the red wine and vodka last night, mirax?

      Matey, you’re officially a cartoonist!
      Talking about hidden talents!

Eh? Calling me a drunk cos I actually know sumfin about indooism?

Tantric ritual - yonic tattva in particular- recommends some vigorous sex, failing which one could ” offer animal sacrifice, flowers, and so forth. If one is incapable of this one should worship with wine, O Durga.” that durga poster was totally cool and with it. The Lady in question would have liked it. If she existed. The ancients would have found it rockin’.

My other question remains: what was it to the Sikhs? Solidarity?

How many gin and tonics have you had tonight?

    10. mirax — on 16th February, 2006 at 4:02 pm

Not into tantric durga worship tonite Jay-boy. Hence zero.

      I don’t drink that stuff.

    12. Sunny — on 16th February, 2006 at 4:13 pm

I don’t know what the Sikhs were getting involved for either. However, the Hindu Forum has some wierd Sikh friends who are Nirankaris or something… probably because the main Sikh organisations are too anti-RSS to care much for the Hindu forum.

I thought the durga poster was cool too. Hell, I’d have one of those in my room if it had a bacardi bottle in hand.

    13. mirax — on 16th February, 2006 at 4:19 pm

ahhhh .. Sunny that single comment about the durga post has redeemed you in my eyes. Thank god you are not a pc warrior/worrier!

    14. Rohin — on 16th February, 2006 at 5:57 pm

Nah, Bacardi’s for grrls! ;) For me it’s all about Shivaji, the charas/chillum and bhang. I’m all in favour of cosmic stoned deities. Hinduism has a lot of cool shit in it, shame much gets forgotten/ignored.
