Who said we had no talent?

by Sunny on 14th November, 2005 at 5:39 pm

I think it’s only fair that we crow about achievements of PP writers. This weekend Rohin and his team (which includes PP writer Sajini Wijetilleka as sub-editor) received the National Student Journalism Award for the UK’s best small budget publication for Medical Student.

Rohin was editor-in-chief of the paper until recently (study commitments). It is published by the University of London Union and caters for over 10,000 medical students across the capital’s five medical schools.

He has written a short article here on why student journalism matters. More coverage on his blog.

Just to clarify - Rohin is not the one in the green dress but the one on the extreme left with the cheesy smile. In fact all of them have cheesy smiles going on. I bet it was the wine.

I said we had no talent!

Wine? Nah these leggy Russian models with tiny dresses, air stewardess hats, Sputnik Vodka and gherkins were competing with Cobra Beer reps who - I’m not kidding - were wearing TVs on their backs, to force as much free booze as they could. Oh man, the more I remember, the more I have to be ashamed of. But less said on here the better! It was a shame I was the only Asian there as they were giving out mini-burgers and all my Harold and Kumar slyder gags were wasted.

I didn’t expect you to mention it here Sunny, but cheers for the shout! Don’t forget that Sajini - another PP staffer - is sub-editor of Medical Student. You’ve collected all the most talented people in the WORLD here Sunny.

And you buggered it all up with shihab. :D

I must be losing my brain. Of course I should have mentioned Sajini too.

As for Shihab - he could manage to dumb down the Playboy channel if he was an executive. We’re just stuck with him.

    Congrats and well done ;-)

Your outfit suggests you was indecisive on the suit jacket, but wore it anyway, or borrowed it at the last minute!

Can’t you two spend one night without me without talking about me?

I’ll have you know, you bunch of au-fait-with-the-cutting edge-ooh-pass-me-the-brochetta-isn’t-diaspora-a-puissant-word-indeed cunts, that in the forthcoming issue of the magazine I am writing a superbly pretentious article on pickled politics simply entitled:

    In a pickle

And it features a picture of a naked ravishing dusky beauty with pickled onions resting atop her nipples

The strapline: Eggs, onions or politics? You decide

I’ll fish out a picture of hairy buffallo and a monkey and photoshop next to her breasts with the caption: Sunny & Queer

  7. Sunny — on 14th November, 2005 at 7:28 pm

    In a pickle

Is that the best you could come out with? bloody! At least three other blogs have linked to us using that strapline :|

  8. shihab — on 14th November, 2005 at 7:35 pm

Bollocks. This is why you should read before posting.

    Pin a pickle

pin the pickled onion on her nip…

oh forget it. I’ve blown it.

  9. shihab — on 14th November, 2005 at 7:39 pm

    Thanks all, much appreciated.

Jamal: borrowed it?!! Nah, you see I had absolutely no expectation of winning so I didn’t even bother shaving and just chucked on any old crap. I wore the T-shirt to rep the University of London and the jacket cos it said ’smart casual’! Student event deserves student attire.

  13. Nush — on 15th November, 2005 at 1:12 pm

Congrats to both Rohin and Sajini :D

  17. squared — on 16th November, 2005 at 12:34 pm

Yea his hand looks a bit freaky. :S

Congrats though! Quite an achievement. :)

  18. SajiniW — on 16th November, 2005 at 3:13 pm

Rohin and Ferras seem to be siamese twins in there!

  19. Rohin — on 16th November, 2005 at 4:58 pm

Just like my buddy Hrithik, my right hand is the source of all my pleasure. I mean POWER. Hence I have left my hideously deformed double-hand untouched by surgical intervention. You know, if you click on where I say ‘crap’ above, my right hand looks weird in that picture too! HERE is my actual right hand, complete with a Yam Boy in tow.

  20. shihab — on 16th November, 2005 at 9:39 pm

phew. your hand is fine after all, not mutant in the least but, like, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH YOUR EAR DUDE?

  21. shihab — on 16th November, 2005 at 9:40 pm

I take it back. your hands in that pic look like t-rex’s hands. and you look like a valacireptor. grrr
