A ‘jihad against litter’

This is one jihad we can all support. A group of kids in Small Heath, Birmingham have [1] declared a jihad against litter. The campaign, called Clean Medina, kicks off this weekend. Heh, brilliant. They have a blog [2] here.

Good- if it spreads countrywide then every stroll will not be spoiled by ‘Dallas Fried Chicken’ and ‘Asia kebab’ boxes.

Could we burn effigies of litter?

Of course, if we aren’t careful we may wind up with “War on Landfill”

Birmingham doesn’t do much landfill, they have a “Power from Waste” facility at Tyseley which deals with a lot of their rubbish. I think they only landfill less than 20% of their waste.

It’s a very, very good idea in an area that badly needs such ideas. All power to their elbows and they will need it.
