'Clairwil - If terrible Tel should offer to meet you somewhere “in private” to dicuss politics, send along Kismet in a wig. It’s a win/win situation.'

What has poor Kismet done to deserve that? I wouldn't mind about Tezzabaws slagging me if he'd answer my bloody questions.

@ Tom fair point, perhaps its issues like this people should start raising on her site?

@ sonia #11 good point, that's the direction I was thinking in when I brought up the posting content from other sites point over there...

It's early days and I admit I'm not expecting too much from her but do hope for a lot from us. Take em at their word I say and then if they screw up ask why, if they refuse to answer go get em and take no prisoners!

sahil's got a good point - party politics ensures that she won't be speaking freely!

its the same problem as with any blogger who might have to toe an organizational line.

Jon, I agree that we all make typos. It was just that that was a rather amusing one. Also, a typo is usually a mistake, fat fingers, you know, while she actually used the wrong spelling twice, meaning, well, one might assume anyway, that she actually thought the word was spelt that way.

For balance, something that she really should be criticised for, the fact that as Minister for Justice (as I think she is now, rather than my own mistake of calling her Solicitor General) she doesn't actually know what the law is:

In reply to Sahil - keep an eye on Harriet's blog and see what is written there. I'm quite confident that it should be a lot more down to earth and straightforward than people are used to from Labour.

As for the typo - well, haven't we all made typos in what we write, you included Tim?

Good news. Politicians now have a way to speak to the rabble without going via the medium of the press, and as long as they keep getting questioned by the media too things are looking up. Makes life more difficult for the spinners.

Sahil - I don't doubt errors will be made, but on the plus side this is the sort of thing to humanise the politicians to the masses and hopefully vice-versa. Also, as opposed to interviewers having only minutes to question policy points, bloggers have all the time in the world. If a politico is unable to say "yeah, I may have fucked up here, I'll have a bit of a rethink" we're probably better off withouth them anyway.

But I wonder whether she really could engage properly. I mean everything politicans say is analysed to death. Blogging is almost recreational writing, so imagine how people would pounce on her if she says anything that does not meet New Labour's criterion.
