    We must defeat Thatcher!

    by Leon
    10th January, 2007 at 8:21 pm

The call has gone out, our enemies are rallying their troops and the battle is almost over. Rachel North has made one final plea to the democrats, the progressives, the lefties everywhere to unite and defeat the old hag Thatcher!

To do this we must vote for Tony Benn (no bad things really) the old man of the left. Vote now and tell your friends and family to vote Benn!

C’mon people, we have less than 24 hours to finish her off once and for all (well until the next time the dark forces invoke her spirit)!

    Vote now, vote Benn!

      None of the above.

For the love of God! Vote anyone that will defeat that hateful, old cow. I’d love to drag her senile old corpse through Glasgow, via every mining village in Britain to let her see the horrible mess she’s made.

      All together now…after three…

Round my way, they reckon Hell won’t be full until Thatcher’s there. It’s harsh, but on balance I’d go with that.

But Benn as a hero? For some of those named one might have some regard or even some affection, but heroes? What use of the word is that?

    4. Clairwil — on 10th January, 2007 at 10:55 pm

Yes I agree the word hero is misused but I think they’re just having a popularity contest.

      Vote Benn

Is she not a senile old git? Was she not a Bush moment on the British body politic? Like, a wart, or something?

Why did I spit at my TV, FFS, when she came out with her ‘there is no such thing as society’. Took a couple of tissues to wipe it off. Evil, nasty old woman. Iain Dale might be getting off on her, but no sane human would, sorry Iain.

Stupid, silly person. (Thatcher that is, not Iain). The Tory Party went into terminal decline as a consequence of her arrogant intellectualism. It has taken, what fifteen years, for them to again mount a credible alternative. And that, quite frankly, is down to Tony Blair’s international adventurism.

Still, she won the Falklands War, more by luck than judgement. Which is more than you can say for the present incumbent.

Still, will go down in history as a complete utter tosser.

She was shit for women’s right, i hear. Created a monster of a generation of women who apparently have to act like ‘men’ to get ahead at work. I prefer women to be women - not emasculating as men in the work place.

Two point lead for Tony, can he sustain it?

    8. Sid Love — on 11th January, 2007 at 10:57 am

My hero is the art lover who knocked the block clean off the Thatcher statue with one clean swipe. Skill.

    9. Bert Preast — on 11th January, 2007 at 11:05 am

Ye gods, what a dismal crop. Has to be Thatcher or Benn really, so I voted for Tebbit. Not for political reasons, I just feel sorry for him.

I’m not the most spiteful person I know and I generally wish peace for all woman and man, but I’ll be more than a little bit disgruntled if that woman dies happy, fulfilled and believing she’ll be remembered as a great figure

Anyone know their way around You Tube? I wanna see that clip of the little toddler shouting Maggie Out! Maggie Out!

    11. Eric Blair — on 11th January, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Don’t forget there’s going to be a *MASSIVE* party in Trafalgar square, 6pm on the first Saturday after the old hag kicks the bucket. See here for details:

      http://www.londonclasswar.org/newswire_trafalgarsquare.php

      Be there!

Also check your nearest cities and talk to the usual suspects, because you may find there’s plans for a city-centre party on the day she dies. If not… get arranging one, it’s dead easy, just start putting the word out!

Won’t be long now, I can feel it in me bones!

If you want a more recent reason to hate the old bitch, just remember her nauseous words of praise for Pinochet on the occasion of his (well-deserved, though far too long postponed) death.

There goes my New Year resolution - to keep off Pickled Politics.

Happy New Year to all and sundry.

I’d love to be at the party, but there’s a part of me which says there’s a much bigger one to be arranged - that of Tony Blair’s departure from No.10 and then another for his subsequent incarceration on St Helena. Hanging is obviously too good for him (and I don’t believe in it).

Unfortunately not my idea - someone had already proposed it on CiF.

      So very true.

    15. Chairwoman — on 11th January, 2007 at 3:04 pm

Anas - I know you’ve had trouble finding a suitable job. Blame Thatcher. She single-handedly destroyed the British economy. Don’t forget it was one her ministers, Lord Lamont I believe, who said that high unemployment was “A price worth paying”. I don’t know what exactly it was a price worth paying for, but I do know who wasn’t paying it.

I am an ex one of the bunch of marxist lefties and yes I was an ex one of the bunch of lefties of the early 80′s. I am just saying this wondering if it might soften the reaction to what I am going to say.

I wonder if it wasn’t for the 80′s revolution our economy would have sunk further back into inefficiency and state sluggishness.

I am now a sold out man who wonders if the best system is really an enterprise one. Surely it is the best of two evils. Sure capitalism can be exploitative even to the barbaric. Also there are grave issues concerning global capitalism and corporations etc and the behaviour of its proponents but socialism has been shown to fail.

Of course if you are talking about Pinochet then and her support for him then that is another issue.

Love to you all, “the class traitor”

    17. Don — on 11th January, 2007 at 7:18 pm

      William,

This isn’t economic theory. This is Thatcher. Thatcher who gloated and preened over shattered… Forget it, it’s either visceral or it isn’t.

    18. Kulvinder — on 12th January, 2007 at 10:39 pm

I don’t understand the thatcher bashing, well with regards to her early policies anyway.

    19. Vladimir — on 13th January, 2007 at 2:40 am

I look forward to the death of TBT (that bitch Thatcher well that’s what we called her through my politics classes anyway) as any other person. To even imagine the celebrations that will be come about due to her death, causes, a smile to come across my face. It is a shame about the poll that there isn’t anyone significant to vote for, but I am still looking forward to hear the results.

    20. douglas clark — on 15th January, 2007 at 12:55 am

So, Benn won it, by three clear points from the devil incarnate, thank fuck.
