Resist logging on to check the websites – it makes you appear to be a real political geek. Otherwise you’ll have to wear a T-Shirt saying: “I went to see the sights of South East Asia and all I did was sit in a bloody internet cafe”.

as to shilpa shetty, i’m fairly sure she got married to a uk person and has a home in england so on that basis it makes her support more relevant

Why is Shilpa Shetty campaigning to save the BBC Asian Network? If the listeners want to save it, tis one thing. Indian celebrities really shouldn’t be the ones we are listening to here.

Causing trouble is great -but is the letter really going to do that?

I actually think that doing away with the BBC Asian Network is no bad thing – it stops people being ‘something on the fringe’ and not being a core part of the BBC’s audience which Asians are. The programming should be seen to be part of the BBC’s mainstream offering, not as “this is for the Other people over there’. What they should do is incorporate material accordingly.
