Got this yesterday.
The Conservatives are delighted to announce the defection of a leading Labour councillor in Tower Hamlets to the party. Dr Anwara Ali, a Labour councillor in the borough since 2006, said her growing disillusionment with Labour and their failure to reform the NHS convinced her to join the Conservatives.

Commenting Dr Anwara Ali said: “As a GP working on the frontline in the largest practice in the East End, I have become increasingly disillusioned with Labour’s failure to reform the NHS. The past decade has seen this government waste millions of pounds on bureaucracy in hospitals.”
– anyone know what’s going on down there?

GPs hate the government. Have done for ages.

And I thought the bizarre nature of TH Labour politics (see Private Eyes passim.) dominated by the lovely East London Mosque crew would have been enough…

    I agree with John.

The several GP’s I know are critical/dis-illusioned with govt/management/what they see as bureaucracy/ those non medical. And for much longer than a Labour govt.

Here are the private eye stories (on the Tory Bethnal Green & Bow website)

It’s very difficult to tell how much their sources are coloured by prejudice. Given Lutfur Rahman’s idea of public art on Brick Lane, there is probably more than a grain of truth in them.

C4 Dispatches covered the influence of Islamic Forum Europe on TH last night.
