by Sunny on 3rd September, 2006 at 2:14 am

It was a year ago, yesterday, that we officially opened this blog wide open. I’m going to try and start my series of articles on Monday. Thank you, come again.

  7. Rohin — on 3rd September, 2006 at 11:44 am

Hippy Birday to us! Sorry about my recent absence…but I’m back in time for the cake-eating. Man I’m hungry. Now I’ll get cracking on my first post for a few weeks.

PP, one year old today. I want to pinch its little cheeks.

Sincere thanks to all the writers and readers, commenters and lurkers, lovers and haters - without you we wouldn’t have made it this far. Here’s to another year and somehow curbing Sunny’s megalomaniac aspirations!

  8. Nyrone — on 3rd September, 2006 at 11:51 am

    Pickled Politics is mostly excellent.
Let’s hope that one day in the future, we no longer need it here to discuss and debate some of the most difficult of issues examined here on a daily basis.

  9. Nyrone — on 3rd September, 2006 at 11:52 am

    But until then…Happy Birthday!

  10. Garry — on 3rd September, 2006 at 12:01 pm

    Congratulations, good stuff.

Can I have a slice of cake please?

  16. Rohin — on 3rd September, 2006 at 1:44 pm

No exotic countries this time V&A, just Chertsey. Been working my ass off, 80 hour weeks! OK that’s only happened twice, but I’ve only been working a month. Getting used to the job…finally finding time to blog again.

  17. Utbah — on 3rd September, 2006 at 2:22 pm

So it’s been a year of attacking Muslims for being offended by blatant islamophobia.

Now, there is the report that will CENSOR all displeasure at Israel’s brutal attack on the defenseless people of Palestine.

Sunny do you think this will mean that Israel can do anything and remain above criticism? And if you, yourself criticise Israel will be labeled as an Anti-Semitic?

Will your articles and the new vision attack all censorship or just Muslims?

  18. Sahil — on 3rd September, 2006 at 2:25 pm

HaH, my first troll =) sorry Vikrant you lost out dude =)

  19. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:17 pm

    Utbah,

I agree!! You can’t trust an evil, Asian Zionist and his sneaky, snivelling Zionist accomplices. They deceive and enslave us with their evil Zionist mind-tricks.

Resistance is futile against this vast, unerring global network.

They’re everywhere, and everyone, at the same time

    BEWARE!

  20. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:18 pm

    Happy birthday Pickled Politics! :-)

    Congratulations

  21. Vikrant a.k.a Amey — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:32 pm

  22. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:37 pm

    Amey,
    You’re leaving the country?

  23. Vikrant a.k.a Amey — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:39 pm

    yes

  24. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:45 pm

    Shit,
Good luck dude. :-) Will you continue to contribute on this blog in your numerous guises: ‘Zionist Vikrant’, ‘Vikrant’, ‘Vikrant Singh’ and ‘Vikrant a.k.a Amey’? I hope so.

[P.S. Make sure you increase the font size on your blog. It’s too small for me to read at the moment].

  25. Vikrant a.k.a Amey — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:46 pm

I’ll be off to Terminal 4 in an hour… Needless to say i’m feeling a bit sentimental about everything.. from Tesco to ex-girlfirends (especially that Iranian girl who wont let me score!)…… Ahh.. i guess i’ve to move on with my life…

  26. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:51 pm

especially that Iranian girl who wont let me score!

Those Iranians have a lot to answer for. Goddamit!

Ahh.. i guess i’ve to move on with my life

So, then, where are you moving to?

  27. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:57 pm

    Amey

Just remember one thing from Uncle Amir… never give up with the ladies.

    YES, you heard me.

Never give up. Never surrender. Even when they call the cops on ya’, never surrender.

As Grandpa Amir once told me,… there is a fine line between true love and a restraining order. A very fine line. And he who dares, wins.

    Amir

  28. Rohin — on 3rd September, 2006 at 3:58 pm

Vik, the diary links auto-refresh on their own schedule. It’ll be linked to soon. Until then, HERE IT IS. Happy? ;)

So, you’re leaving for good? Shit man, how come? Family all moving are they? So where will you be schooling? Coming back for uni or are you going to go for the Indian Ivy League?

  29. EiNY — on 3rd September, 2006 at 4:53 pm

Congrats Sunny. PP is what blogging is all about.

  30. Zak — on 3rd September, 2006 at 5:48 pm

    Rakhee - that’s such a sexy accent.

    Say something naughty…

    Please!

  33. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 7:07 pm

Rakhee, if I lived up a tree,
I would want you there with me
    Because you speak so freely
    In that Indian Punjabi

  34. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 7:08 pm

I’m getting the taste for poetry again!! Woo-hoo! 8)

  35. Amir — on 3rd September, 2006 at 7:15 pm

If you’re a regular viewer of ‘Lost’ click on the link to access an ‘unseen’ Orientation film.

It’s genuine. JJ Abrams and Carlton Cuse released it online as part of the ‘Lost Experience’.

  36. Martijn — on 3rd September, 2006 at 7:40 pm

Happy birthday to you and warm greetings.

  37. Jai — on 3rd September, 2006 at 7:50 pm

    Rakhee,

=>”*imagines typical indian family get together*”

That image also needs a sheepish-looking Sunny being made to blow out the candles and cut the cake while feeling like a 4-year-old.

    **************************

Happy Birthday Pickled Politics. My heartfelt congratulations to Sunny, Rohin and the rest of the PP family for a job extremely well-done. May you continue to go from strength to strength.

Thank you also for not being excessively politically-correct. There’s definitely something to be said for good old-fashioned British Asian common sense and badmaashi ;)

  38. habibi — on 3rd September, 2006 at 9:24 pm

    Happy birthday PP!

Sunny makes me cheer, fume, laugh and rant, often in a single post, sometimes even in a single sentence. I’m a big fan :-)

And Jai rarely fails to blow out Sunny’s candles when they start bonfires.

I’ve learned so much from you both (and so many others on PP) over the last year. Thank you all.

  39. Refresh — on 3rd September, 2006 at 11:02 pm

Only blog I’ve invested in - great to see it didn’t end up as an Asian Harry’s Place. And lets make sure it doesn’t.

    Happy Birthday PP.

  40. Rohin — on 3rd September, 2006 at 11:05 pm

“great to see it didn’t end up as an Asian Harry’s Place”

What would Hari’s Place be like? Hmm…insightful posts followed by Hindutva and Islamofundo rantings? Perhaps the odd Khalistani…?

  41. Rakhee — on 4th September, 2006 at 12:04 am

=>That image also needs a sheepish-looking Sunny being made to blow out the candles and cut the cake while feeling like a 4-year-old.

Jai, lol. Can’t see Sunny feeding the cake to the five thousand though, cake is far to precious a commodity ;) Having said that, neither would I, especially if it’s chocolate…!

Amir, besharam! How rude is it to ask a good gujarati girl to go up a tree and say something naughty? *flicks hair and storms off in disgust*

  42. Refresh — on 4th September, 2006 at 1:03 am

    Rohin, hahaha.

Hadn’t considered the possibility of insightful posts.

  43. mirax — on 4th September, 2006 at 3:55 am

*looks like the party is nearly over…*

anyways, best wishes to Sunny and co-conspirators - tilting my (breakfast) glass (of juice) to you!

  44. Kismet Hardy — on 4th September, 2006 at 9:54 am

    “Rohin, hahaha”

Bastard. I hate you Rohin. Every time you go away, I get to fool all the girl into l;aughing at my jokes and even fancying me, they do. And then you come back and it’s all ‘ooh rohin this’, ‘ooh rohin that’ always added with ‘ha ha ha’ and the madenning ring of LOLs. I hate you. I hate you so much. Why? Why must you be more popular? Why must I hear ‘you’re never going to have his IQ, his looks, his wit, his way with the women’ every morning from my own father? Why.

  45. Justforfun — on 4th September, 2006 at 9:55 am

Congratulations on your first birthday Pickled Politics.

Glad to see all are well - I’ve been a way for a month and reading the occasional press report I feared a few might not be around. It seems it could be dangerous to take an adventure holiday in the UK in a group of more that 1. Look on the bright side I say - it means my relatives cannot not visit in great numbers and if they attempt to leave to come to the countryside I can call the cops.

Anyway - for the birthday feast lets hear it for

    Hippo Birdy two Ewes
    Hippo Birdy two Ewes
    Hippo Birdy Deer Pickled Politics
    Hippo Birdy two Ewes.

As concession to the religiously minded, my meal tonight will be using kosher and halal meats only (any objection to Hippo?) and there is, please note, no beef on the menu - but unfortunately vegitarians will just have to make do with the salad, sorry about that.

  49. Sunny — on 4th September, 2006 at 6:54 pm

are you going to shit all over people or pee pee over the lovely BNP people the next coming year too?

Some ‘accidents’ are always unavoidable Miss Hawahawai. :)

    Thanks for your wishes everyone.
