It’s the weekend totty-of-choice thread!

by Katy on 2nd September, 2006 at 11:43 am

Rakhee has put in a request for a spot of male totty for the thinking-yet-redblooded-woman in the weekend open thread. There is nothing I would like more than to spend the afternoon happily trawling the interweb for photos of suitable candidates, i.e. Vince Vaughan and Simon-from-Blue* (do not confuse this with me liking the musical oeuvre of the band Blue, for they are sadly not nearly as musically proficient as Simon is handsome). Cor. Phwoargh. Wouldn’t mind one of those at home. Woof. Hubba hubba. Etc.

Unfortunately, however, I cannot do that, because I am preparing to go to yet another wedding. What is it with weddings this year? Why is everyone that I know getting married this year, and why have they all decided to get married in September? And why do I keep losing their invitations so that I can’t access their wedding lists online? Not that I would buy anything from one anyway. I hate wedding lists. Soulless, totalitarian bastard children of a callously consumerist age. Believe me, if I care about you enough to take valuable time out from my heavy blogging and ebay schedule to attend your wedding, I also care about you enough to want to buy you something slightly more personal than three teaspoons and a video basket from John Lewis, although probably not quite enough to buy you the £299 La Gaggia espresso machine. The Newtons have to eat, you know.

Which is why I am also struggling to wrap this chocolate fountain (the gift that keeps on giving), and hence cannot run on and on in my usual stream-of-consciousness babbly way. So you will have to amuse yourselves this weekend, I am afraid. But it would be nice to have a bit of eye candy on the open thread, wouldn’t it? And to that end, as well as telling us all what you are up to or what you have been doing, I invite all readers of both genders to name, and perhaps link to their favourite pictures of their top celebrity eye candy.

Apart from Brad Pitt, who is banned because he has hamster cheeks.

Thanks… bye… bye… thanks… bye…

See, when I use that I get abused. As for weddings - well most of my friends have gotten married already. The free parties have finished :(

Am I the only one who finds this tacky and demeaning to men everywhere?

Down with this sort of thing.

I see what you mean, Katy, about the cheeks …

Yay! That has got to be the best opening to a weekend thread ever. The words ‘male totty’ and ‘chocolate fountain’ and I’m a happy lady….

Disagree with the Brad Pitt thing (Mirax, I’m sure you should go in the naughty corner for that…) - I mean, Oceans Eleven was rather pleasurable to look at if you ask me. George and Brad looking slick. MMM.

Other favs are Andy Garcia (in When a Man Loves a Woman), Pierce Brosnan (in Thomas Crown Affair) and Joaquin Phoenix -there’s something about a man with deep set eyes and nice jawline….

sunny, I was in the same place as you a while back. no more freeloading off my mates’ weddings. then, last year, all these people I know started getting divorced, and the rash of ‘free at last, free at last, thank god I’m free at last’ parties have been coming so thick and fast I cant keep up. then there’s all the ‘meeting new people’ parties I get to crash at….so chin up mate

If I come across any Joaquin lookalikes, I’ll be sure to ask if he has an older brother for you Chairwoman. or a dad. or a grandad .. hee hee ;)

    Jackie Brown,

    Shame on you.

    Rakhee,

Was that Joaquin Pheonix ? He looks like that British actor, Ben Chaplin. A young and thinner version.

Speaking of marriage, I spotted this classic via Turbanhead. It makes me proud to be part of the human race.

If I had a time machine and were gay I’d do Mickey Rourke circa Pope of Greenwich Village era. Also Bowie, if the beers flowed and he agreed to take and not give. Ooh and that chik flick chap from Lucky Number Slevin. Josh Hartnett, that’s it. He’s grr man. I see a lot of me in him

I was feeling a little guilty about the lack of male participation on this thread, especially considering Katy’s enthusiasm on the matter.

So here is my contribution from a red-blooded male perspective:

    Monica Bellucci

The ladies are talking about the good-looking men
Shockingly not one person mentions Roy Chubby Brown or my all time favourite pin up boy Ken Dodd

  22. Rakhee — on 5th September, 2006 at 1:39 pm

Speaking of totty, thought this might make the boys smile…
