More silliness

Posted By Sunny On 17th August, 2006 @ 2:31 am In India, Other racists | Comments Disabled

While we’re on the subject of stupid comments and internet campaigns…. remember our Bollywood friend Rimi Sen, who [1] said…he can even make a Black African look pretty“? Well, quite a few blogs [2] picked it up. I also wrote it for [3] AIM, and guess where [4] that [5] ended up.

rimi senWhen we called Rimi for her take on the controversy, the actress naturally feigned ignorance. She says, “I have been misquoted. I can’t speak to you as I am shooting.” As for remembering what she had actually said, the actress says, “I don’t remember any such statement.”

Heh. Who said we can’t challenge racism in Bollywood? (via [6] t-hype)

Where’s the problem?

She doesn’t think that black women are particularly attractive or as attractive as Asians or Caucasians… big deal. It’s an aesthetic opinion.

For me, personally, I adore darker complexions.

And, of course, I adore the Asian complexion. Indian/Pakistani girls have the most penetrating and brooding of eyes, flawless pitch-black hair, and a tiny frame with very big boo… err, yes, hmmm.

Okay, I’m getting a bit too excited. ;-)

More than the colour, it’s really the shape and feel of the breasts that does it for me. If I’m to be really real, it’s the feel that’s most crucial. Especially when one doesn’t get arrested for enacting such sensation. It happenned to me once, this allowance of breast touching and, nay, it wasn’t my mother

I was adored once too

Kismet Hardy,

Speaking truth to power, as always…

Who cares about da colour when you got ‘dha hubba?

Sunny I understand what you mean and am in your corner on this subject, but what is the value in driving these kinds of opinions underground? I’d rather that such attitudes manifest themselves unobstructed so that there is frequent opportunity to have an ongoing debate about the underlying bigotry and hence, many more chances to challenge them and hopefully, eradicate them based on a real understanding.

I think, because I grew up in Bangladesh, my idea of exotic is blonde and buxom the same way the bronzed butt is the stuff of fantasies for our caucasian breathren. I just shot my load when I said buxom and my keyboard got sticky by butt

Did it do it for you also?

By the way, them lot at Ligali are an angry bunch aren’t they? I got my arse deleted within seconds for the simple crime of pointing out one of their posters was a paranoid freak

I’m glad you PP lot are so fluffy

Don’t they have boobs in Bangladesh?

#8 Comment By Kismet Hardy On 17th August, 2006 @ 9:48 am

Ooo-ya. I used to spy on my maidservants bathing and could always see, what were they called, poor women in the slums behind our mansion either doing a naked type dance or just writhing in agony before inevitable death gripped them. Anyhoo, them boobs were droopy like onions hanging from stockings and I like them round and firm and pointy and juicy

At the event, well known actor Hrithik Roshan made a passing comment about how he knew it was time to leave Shanghai and Hong Kong after six weeks of stunt training and go home when his eyes started “turning into little slits like the Chinese”.

OMG!! What a dickhead. These prejudices are abound in Bollywood and have spoilt recent films. Kol Ho Na Hoor could have more mainstream success if they cut out the unamusing Sharukh-Saif “we’re sleeping in the same bed, aren’t we gay” scenes with the housemaid.

On the subject of Bollywood, Yash Raj was filming at UCL a couple of days ago. I think Preity Zinta is in the film but didn’t see her. They were filming a dance routine where the dancers wore long black coats and round black hats, possible the first Quaker dance routine in Bollywood history.

Well, firstly, this was a challenge to her views. If we carry on letting them manifest then we get no chance to challenge them. Secondly, it’s the media’s job to challenge such stupid remarks and not help them proliferate. So I was challenging that too.

Yes, the involvement of Ligali rang a few warning bells here - I remember their activities before and during the Lozells riot…

It isn’t, how much racism is enough before it’s worth paying attention to?
