Guido is hinting he’s saving more smut up ’til he stands in for the PM – another chance for his mucker iain Dale to get onto Newsnight for all the wrong reasons?

Ali – To be honest I think the MSM picked that up intentionally, rather than admit the bloggers were following the billionaire story quite robustly too. It makes sense for many MSM to paint blogger simply as gossip mongerers (though of course Guido is exactly that, but there are others in this saga).

I think I’m in a minority of one on this. Doesn’t anyone else think this campaign against Prescott has gone one or two steps too far? Don’t people see that the press may have pushed their luck once too often here?

My view on the blogger’s ‘Prezza’s affairs’ story was that it was the worst possible way to impact onto the mainstream.

Did you have Norton anti-virus working before? For some reason Norton anti-virus firewall makes it difficult for people to post on this blog platform I’m told.

Ali, I think there was some justified mud-flinging about Prescott’s dealings with the billionaire. Maybe not the third woman but I believe the blogs were more worried about the casino deal than the woman. Only Guido really kept on going on about the affair.

The next time a Privacy Law debate rears its ugly head, any future government, looking back on the press treatment of the last two governments wouldn’t think twice about seizing that opportunity would they?

Going for the DPM in this way crosses a rubicon in my view, the press acknowledge there is no killing blow, yet still fling the mud.
