How many marches are taking place this Saturday exactly?
So, Anjem Choudhary and his publicity hungry band of Islamists from Islam4UK are planning to march this Saturday. They love creating trouble and the media love giving them the oxygen for their own agendas.
The Daily Express, naturally, went big on the whole thing. Which meant the English Defence League followed and decided to hold a counter-demonstration. Then the crew from Secular Democracy and BMSD decided to organise their own counter-demonstration (which I posted about a couple of days ago). I support the latter one.
Now it turns out two more counter-demonstrations are being organised. There’s Muslims4UK who are:
“Demonstrating against the forces of Hate: Al-Muhajiroun, English Defence League and the Daily Express” – now on Facebook and this website. And it looks like the UAF / hard-left crew are mobilising around the: ‘Protest against March4Sharia and the EDL!‘.
The Judean Christian’s People’s Front comes to mind, obviously, but I can’t wait! I’m going to go around with a video camera and try and catch all the competing marches and organisations on camera. Should be great fun.

The last march mentioned is more Alliance for Workers’ Liberty than UAF.
Here in Leeds we are getting the EDL on Saturday at 1pm, City Square (the Council is presently putting protective barriers round the brilliant statues and have taken down the Christmas Tree after about a day of being up (no lights as yet).
So no doubt there will be the full range of anti fascists, right wing islamists and all sorts of onlookers. Should be good street theatre if nothing else – providing no one gets hurt. All police leave is cancelled as well.
West Yorkshire – not so much a conurbation as a state of mind.
I don’t see this kind of thing as fun it will just generate more hatred on the streets and cause even more tension between communities.
The objective of the organisers will have been met no doubt with the publicity and tensions that will follow.

So if it all kicks off can we assume that Islam4UK will buddy up with EDL, muslims4UK and UAF will buddy up and Secular Democracy and BMSD ( never heard of either of these) will act as referees?

Does anyone know the status of the EDL march in Leeds? I assumed it would be cancelled if they’re doing a counter protest in London, but the Yorkshire Evening Post seem to think it’s still on?

yeah yeah yeah the last time the sikhs turned up, the national front turned up, the UBA (United british Alliance) turned up and the Al Muj posse switched venue at the last minute to somewhere in forest gate if I remember rightly, just in case you are dissapointed.

The UAF is countering the EDL in Leeds.
Hopefully this London outing by Anjem and his goons will be the end for Al-Muhajiroon. Every Muslim organisation of whichever type of ‘politics’ seems to be against them. Like this statement I just found:

I mean, if the EDL are just a front for racists and their official anti-racist, ant-extremist line is a convenient lie then any intelligent person would be able to see through it.
Let’s hope that the organisers of BMSD talk to the organisers of the EDL.

It’s got nothing to do with UAF. The statement is signed by the Worker-Communist Party of Iran (Hekmatist), the Worker-Communism Unity Party of Iran and the Alliance for Workers’ Liberty.

I apologise for my error. However, if the protest has anything to do with my ancestral compatriot Maryam Namazie, then “fuckwits†is a very apt description.
Communists are fuckwits, as are any supporters of fascism and totalitarianism.

I would agree with your description of Namazie, though for different reasons.
However, the Worker-Communist Party of Iran (Hekmatist) is in fact a split from Namazie’s WPI.
In future, before Sunny or anyone else throws around accusations against UAF, it would be a good idea to check the details.
Muslims4UK is for those who wouldn’t want to be seen within a mile of bmsd. seems to have most community legitimacy from the muslim quarters, much more so than bmsd.

What we actually need is a counter demo by their respective parents.
At least it looks like the two actually relevant muslim counterdemos, BDSM, I mean, ah, whatever, and Muslims4UK are joining forces – if you look, you will notice that their demos are both at the same time, same place, Picadilly Circus 1pm, i.e. they are manifestly the same demo. I have a feeling that while all the actual Muslim communities will turn up to support secular democracy at that demo, the press will ignore them while chasing the beardies and the skins and the anti-fash white kids around the streets, while the right wing press demands “why aren’t Muslim communities taking a stand against extremism?” Sigh. I’ve seen this shit before.
