  • Delhi 1984 Commemoration in London next week

    21st October, 2009 at 5:55 am

The Oxford and Cambridge Sikh Alumni Association have organised a commemorative program on October 31st - on the 25th Anniversary of the Delhi Sikh Pogroms in 1984.

The pogroms targeted Sikh families in Delhi and across the country in retaliation for the assassination of PM Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards, which itself was in revenge for the attack on the Golden Temple.

The commemoration will take place: Central Gurdwara (Khalsa Jatha), 58-62 Queensdale Road, London W11 4SG
    Time: 13:30 - 17:00 / (nearest tube: Shepherd’s Bush)
The program is on the mezanine floor in the gurdwara. Obviously it’s free to attend.

This program will feature the following speakers:

Manoj Mitta – Senior Editor, Times of India and co-author of ‘When a tree shook Delhi’ (New Delhi, India)
Manmeet Singh & Harpreet Kaur, Producer/Director of ‘The Widow Colony’ documentary on the 1984 pogroms (Maryland, USA)
Harinder Singh – Executive Director, Sikh Research Institute (Texas, USA)
