So what is the deal with Spain and football? Can’t say I was disappointed that Spain didn’t make it. It’s good to know that we are better than Spain in something, since you beat our asses in everything else.

Anyway. Love how the tabloids are spinning yesterday’s performance. Ronaldo winked, and Rooney got a red. Yeah, right. Saw the highlights today, and it’s clear that the kick was deliberate, and he deserved a red for that. Even Terry Venables said so. In fact, he deserved 3 yellow cards for being such a fool.

Oh, and yesterday’s game was the first in world cup history where a goalie managed to save 3 penalties. So I am not sure if that means we have a wonderful goalie, or that the English team… well, wasn’t so lucky.

Actually, my grandfather was born in Olivenza, a town Portugal still refuses to accept as Spanish.
But I don’t think I could bare Portugal winning the WC, given the number of past Spanish failures. The Spanish don’t usually give a toss about Poor-too-gal (unlike vice-versa, you know small country big country thing). But that could change (on the other hand it might inspire us).
Putting my England cap back on — Amir, I sympathise with your sentiments. Ronaldo was a nasty cunt. He deserves a broken leg-type injury. And the Portuguese kept diving. However, did we really deserve to win the game? Don’t think we covered ourselves in glory this campaign. And without Rooney in the semis, well imagine this scenario: Henry vs Crouch (shudder)
