LOL! That church is just down the road from me. Those church goers judging their neighbours might like to reflect on the fact that the church was a massive squat once well known in the area for being a place to buy your drugs (Reclaim The Streets was born there too apparently). It was called the Rainbow Centre…
Well, I *am* 40, and if the tea & paper meant I was simultaneously free of my 2 mini-primates, well…
Besides, the choice seemed to be between getting ringing ears in the company of a bunch of pissed-up kids, and being sermonised at by an invisible deity’s supposed representative on earth.
That looks like a lot of fun going on in Kentish Town on a sunday.
There are real ”church wars” going on around the place too. Opposition to some of these African churches that seem to think that bigger is better and have popped up in large venues and former pubs around London.
Kingsway International Christian Centre which claims 12,000 members, has been homeless since they were forced to move out from their 9 and a half acre site close to where the olympics are now being built.
They had made plans to move to a (so called) mega church way out on the edge of London in Essex, but there was local opposition. It was said that there would be a huge carpark around it to accommodate all the worshipers. Planning permission was refused.(Racism was a factor here perhaps).
On the whole, I think I’d rather spend the time having a nice cup of tea and reading the paper…
you boring git, you!

Is it a quack church?

The latest I’ve heard is that they now want to take over a closed down bingo hall in Crystal Palace (which is a traffic bottleneck at the best of times).
