Confused. Inverted?

And while I'm exposing my ignorance, can anyone tell me what BME stands for?

great big flapping cakeholes

To trash like her, freedom of speech is the freedom to hate, and Conservatism is self conservation.

What's really depressing about Ann Winterton is that many people will think "Good on you, girl."

And there will be plenty of closet racists who think that Ann Winterton's tired crack about dead Chinese is "just a bit of a laugh, innit?" Millions of them.

The evolution of the inverted Asian in certainly one to watch

bless lady winterton's cotton socks... ignorance is bliss! I think one of the negative offshoots of a multi-cultural society is that especially where large proportions of asians (for example) reside - bradford/birmingham - we find that as they become more amalgamated as british residents, they also become more inverted too. i's a strange evolution and one we should watch with curious eyes!

Her husband's explanation, ahem, of the "cockler incident" is so funny. Straight from a very Olde England:

[Sir Nicholas said: "This was a private dinner party - my wife was not making an after-dinner speech.

"There were a total of 12 people - of which I was one - and the story which was told was part of the general conversation relating the sort of stories and jokes which were doing the rounds.

"This was not standing up telling a story as part of an after-dinner speech.

"At normal events an honourable individual of whatever political party should not have run off and leaked whatever was discussed at a private dinner party to the press or anyone else.

"If conversations at a dinner table are going to become public knowledge, we are no longer living in a free society - we are living with George Orwell's thought police.

"My wife has my full support. I believe she has been harshly treated.

"Was my wife seeking to be offensive to any group of people? No, she was not. She was part of a group of people discussing a story that was doing the rounds on e-mail.

"One should be able to say `I saw this, I did not log it up, it just came through.' ]

Ha ha, don't worry, people, the Wintertons are just types who "talk about e-mails". Only their thoughts in after-dinner speeches may be taken into account (they are sitting MPs, so this is of course only fair). In fact, they are innocent victims of the "thought police", and, in any case, they "did not log it up". Oh, and by the way, some people have no manners.

You couldn't make it up.

Does "logging up" have something to do with dogging? Do Asians do it?

The loathsome Ann Winterton strikes again. How will the Conservative leadership react? The link comes courtesy of Pickled Politics, where you'll also find some interesting thoughts on Asian integration. Elsewhere, some stateside perspective from Booke...

"Lady " Winterton has been in the very safe tory seat of Congleton since 1983. Her husband, Sir Nick Winterton, has been MP for neighbouring Macclesfield for 34 years.

We can't deny her views are not representative of some sections and the obvious problems is that by talking about her it gives her a platform she has done nothing in her career to deserve.

Lady Winterton and her husband are members of a number of theall-party country clubs such as friends of Finland, and it is in these she made her previous speeches. Losing a Shadow Ministerial post because of a ‘ten-a-penny Pakis’ gag and with her Whip drawn for laughing at dead foreigners, you'd have thought she learnt her lesson. Although her dinner invitations have dried up, she subsequently got a post as columnist in Congleton Guardian, a local weekly newspaper.

She must be wondering how many painfully bad racist jokes you’d need to make before you’re finally get thrown out of the Conservative party and given her own TV show ?
