Even Mail readers revolt against Mad Mel

So, Melanie Phillips has written yet another bigoted article – this one attacking gays in the Daily Mail. It’s the usual paranoid and bigoted rubbish. What’s amusing to watch is that she’s getting slated by the Daily Mail’s own readers:

“But is the gay rights agenda really about tolerance, or is it about trying to stop heterosexuality being the behavioural norm?”
Do you honestly think that this is true? Do you really think that there is some vast, underground conspiracy by gay groups to convert the rest of us? Can you point to any evidence at all for this?

….

How can you blame gays for broken heterosexual marriages. You really have lost the plot.

THere is a bus-sized hole in this argument. If a stable marriage is the rock on which society is built (if) and the ideal for bringing up children, then why deny that right to one group in society?

Oh dear. Doesn’t look good does it?

One has got to ask: how come society seems to be breaking down AND the Daily Mail is the best selling newspaper in the country? Coincidence?

Personally, I’m worried about the effect this will have on house prices.

…how sad that gay activists are now perpetrating a mirror image of the intolerance once shown to them.

Yep, walking the dog of an evening I am constantly looking over my shoulder for gangs of ‘straight bashers.’

She seems to think that a series of unsupported assertions comprise a coherent argument. Who cares if heterosexuality is seen as ‘normative’ or not? It’s not the sort of thing which sways one’s personal preference.

I’m racking my brains to think of how a heterosexual relationship is threatened by other people having homosexual relationships.

I am so glad Melanie Philips is unstoppable in her rants.

I’ve adopted the philosophy that the best way to win an argument is to let them damn themselves. That includes of course these Daily Mail readers who have suddenly felt compelled to react to Philips’ column.

She should go dogging with Lord Nazir Ali

    Kismet,

When I said ‘walking the dog’ I did actually mean walking the dog. Just to clarify.

@Don: what do you mean, you’re racking your brains? The GAY is CATCHING. That’s all you need to know.

If Melanie Phillips is pro-marriage, why does she not want gays to marry as well?

And this is priceless: But is the gay rights agenda really about tolerance, or is it about trying to stop heterosexuality being the behavioural norm?

It reminds me of that time more than a decade ago when the Telegraph printed a vicious antigay editorial. The next day the entire letters page- Col Bufton-Tufton retd included- was given over to a mass cry of “shame on you”.

What I find amusing is her groupies will tolerate and applaud her vicious attacks on immigrants, asylum seekers and Muslims but when it hits closer to home (maybe they are , or have gay family members) they are up in arms.

Mad Mel is just being consistent in her bigotry; they are not
