Anti-terrorism “expert” Glen Jenvey converts to Islam?

Remember that fictitious front-page Sun news story where some Muslims on a forum had drawn up a Jewish hit-list? It got taken down after questions were asked about “anti-terrorism expert” Glen Jenvey who apparently sold the story to the Sun. Anyway, here’s an update.

Apparently he’s converted to Islam. LOL. No seriously, Dave Bones emailed earlier and has now blogged it. Richard Bartholomew has much more. This really is a bizarre story. If this guy does become a big disciple of Anjem Choudhary then expect him on TV soon.

    Rofl!

That’s one hell of a reverse ferret.

I know! It’s like something out of a comedy show.

That’s a very amusing take on it Jamie.

I think he is feigning this to gather more evidence.

  5. Andrew — on 22nd June, 2009 at 6:22 am

Assuming it’s true!! If it is, it may be part of his grand plan to infiltrate Al-Muhajirun!

^^^ I agree with the sentiment that it’s probably a trick to get into HT etc. This guy is obviously a fraud, he’ll just use this as an opertunity to try and publish some more half baked stories and present them as an “insider view”, maybe write a book about it etc, and what better way to publicise a book than to do a Rushdie?

If it’s all true then it seems like he’s got serious problems. I feel a bit sorry for him. Obviously not very sorry given what he’s done in the past, but then again he may not have done it out of malice, but sheer delusion.

Where is there any evidence he has converted, other than “Mr Waleed”‘s communication to Dave Bones? Jenvey’s own statement doesn’t say that, or anything close to it, just that he’s fed up with being attacked by the Mail and is withdrawing “evidence” as a result (the quality of at least some of this “evidence” being the reason why Jenvey is a controversial figure).

Bloody hell, you really couldn’t make this shit up. The old saying is true: fact is stranger than fiction! :D

Either this is Genuine or something very carefully planned out with Deceit.

How it currently stands at the moment (Before his reversion)
Jenvey at the moment is screwed from All Sides,
    Official Police Investigation,
    Legal Case
    PCC case
all initiated by Ummah Forum administrators and it is still ongoing

Now if indeed this is genuine im fairly certain that the whole lot of it will be dropped if Jenvey
does indeed apologies for stitching them up then he will be in the Clear again and have nothing to
    worry about.
Either Jenvey has staged this all to crawl out of the deep hole he is already in

or Jenvey is probably really peed off about everything Daily Mail allegations about him and just wanna
    move on..
    who knows..

I reckon Sam’s hit the nail on the head: it’s all a big charade! Converting to Islam is *so* ridiculous, Jenvey knows the Islamists have no choice but to believe it and take him in as a born again Jihadist.

Then when they’re least expecting it – BAM! – he’ll release a whole DVD full of explosive undercover intelligence on his new buddies!

Makes perfect sense. The guy is like Mission Impossible personified.

This is bizarre, if true, and points to that eternal truth that it is indifference not hate that is the opposite of love.

From what I know he has had long conversations with Mr Bakri and Mr Choudhary over a little while. Of course people are going to think this is a stunt. I know religion and belief is a very important thing to people so I will make no assumption. Obviously I would love to film Mr Jenveys story and put some of the allegations people have made to him. His new name is Omar Hamza Jenvey.

As far as withdrawing his evidence against Hamza, I am not sure that will work as a video is a video. If Mr Ujaama is in a video with Mr Hamza and the video exists I can’t see the CIA giving it back without copying it and using it as evidence. They also have Mr Ujaamas statement. I am not sure how all this works. The guys I used to know from Supporters of Shariah said the video was never a secret anyway and they used to mail them to whoever ordered them. I think there is an exploitable naiivety about anyone who believes something strongly but I don’t think any of these people are as stupid as a lot of people would like to make out.

I have seen emails from Aranis solicitors asking why Mr Jenvey is withdrawing his evidence and enquiring about his change of heart.

@5th comment. You just said he’s trying to infiltrate the immigrants. Mujahideen is what you were looking for not muhajareen.

Borat got it right – having monumentally fucked up by inventing a plot on Ummah.com and then telling the Sun about it, he exposed himself as a sometime fraud – and who is ever going to believe any of his research after that?
So that line of work is totally over, meanwhile he has several police and civil cases being lined up by Ummah.com for his little stunt, on top of that he probably fears for his life more than ever from the extremists, so – where to go? How to get the charges dropped? What’s he going to do now that his whole life’s work has been called into question?
Not many moves left if he wants to walk free- UNLESS –
he converts! Then poof- no suits, no threats, no need to slink away in shame and find a new line of work – none of that AND how could the radicals refuse such a “high-value” convert? They would never turn him away – he’s too good a “miracle” story.

So he converted. Now he gets to live without ever fearing for his life again or worrying about going to jail for hate-speech etc. His only problem will be keeping up a convincing front for the rest of his life amongst his new friends, but other than that, he’s gold.
