The right in this country are only held together by a loathing of Brown and all things Labour. As soon as Cameron wins, as is looking inevitable, all hell is going to break loose here too.

There is less wingnut-style lunacy in Britain, but there's definatley enough bile to make things really interesting.

What's not to like about an avid biker, and steward of the environment, a relentless critic of crony capitalism, creationists, religious nutjobs of every stripe? If you like Hitchens you will need no reason to like Johnson. Let's say anti-jihadists come in every stripe. Now Sunny and CJ biking together and debating the merits of shunning meat - that would be interesting!

I wouldn't rush to pat Charles Johnson on the back to soon. A quick perusal of the Little Green Footballs site shows it is as vilely anti-Palestinian as ever.

Weirdly, Johnson cited me in an attack on Geller, over Geller's support for the absurd "Lionheart". See here:

One interesting manifestation of this American Neocon/European far-right alliance is the International Free Press Society: http://preview.tinyurl.com/daxt7x

As it happens, they gave an award to our own Melanie Phillips just this week: http://tinyurl.com/cfd5we

That is fascinating. AhhhhhJihaaaadiwatch!!! as I used to call it is a very popular site. One of my Repub pals met Pam Geller at that CPAC thing. She is a funny looking chick. They do all seem to be in the wilderness at the mo. They are calling for a resurgent religious right. I think they are barking up the wrong tree voter wise. If I was a Republican I would probably promote some of these enthusiastic Black conservatives who are popping up like that Alfonso guy.

I can't be too enthusiastic about any right wing implosions just yet. The Tories wandered off soul searching when Blair got in. Portillo might have actually learnt something.

Is Obama the US's Blair figure?

Time will tell. America also suffers from the tweedle dee/tweedle dum effect we have over here so I can't see anything other than a reinvention of conservatism making its slow way back dependent usually on circumstances beyond a presidents control. I am not sure I want to see them burnt. I'd like to see all of us learn and communicate better. I think it is good to recognise the ideals behind what people say even if we disagree.
