Comment Is Respect

by Al-Hack on 15th March, 2006 at 3:07 pm

Ziauddin Sardar and Fareena Alam are to join the Guardian’s new project according to my sources. On the other hand we’re saddled with Salma Yaqoob and Galloway again. All we require is Naseem “dancing cows” Mohammed to complete the set of the three musketeers from Respect.

Ah it aint all that bad, surelly all those “liberal” writters will balance things out…

Cool, I’d like to see some sparks fly ideally. It would be boring if none of the commentators attacked each other.

Salma Yaqoob is, in my opinion, one of the most talented and principled political figures of our generation.

Yeah. How am I not surprised that is your opinion Eddie. I’m waiting to see if she’ll come up with anything intelligent on there. Already they’ve started holding comments for moderation, which is annoying.

Well, she certainly tried to stick it to Galloway - I’ll give her that.

    Sunny

Moderation is the least of their problems at the Grauniadblog.

I do get the impression that they haven’t completely thought this through.

Am liable to agree with you Mr T (always wanted to say that!)

  8. Jay Singh — on 15th March, 2006 at 10:56 pm

I am going to call David ‘Mr T’ from now on too.

He can call us all ’suckas’ and ‘fool’ when he disagrees with us as well if he likes.

  9. Jai — on 15th March, 2006 at 11:35 pm

Cue David T peppering his PP messages with “I pity the fool !”, along with random outbursts of “I ain’t getting on no plane”…..

Hey celebrity blogging, cool. I hope, for the sake of jah, the Guardian implore Prof Amartya Sen to start blogging there too.

I do agree Salma Yaqoob is impressive - going by her performance on Question Time (some weeks ago). And she did say a lot of intelligent things and did hold her own on a panel of heavyweights.

They don’t like it up ‘em though.
Comments were quickly closed on the Galloway column, even though they seemed balanced (on each side that is - quite a few were individually clearly unbalanced!) and only one that I saw made a veiled cat reference.

I think the site will just turn into / is already clearly just a kind of extended ‘comment’ page (yawn) with mostly the usual suspects (snore).

I don’t go to blogs to read people I can already read elsewhere (if I wanted to read them, that is)…

I ain’t gonna get on that plane!

  14. Jai — on 16th March, 2006 at 3:08 pm

“Heh, I love it when a plan comes together.”

*Jai grins roguishly and chomps imaginary cigar*

both galloway and salma yaqoob are so very cool and impressive. you do not come across as such intelligent people in our political life - charismatic, principled and bold.
talking about galloway, he is loved by millions around the world for his stand against bush and blair war project on muslims.
he is the biggest threat to new labour project we have ever seen…good luck to him and salma yaqoob

  16. Chris — on 16th March, 2006 at 5:03 pm

Unfortunately those “millions” have apparently not been turning up to his personal appearances since millions of others enjoyed his cool, impressive, charismatic, principled and bold cat impersonation….

Yeah, but he sure ain’t loved by Salma, is he.

    Allahu Akbar!
