    Pics from yesterday’s Islamophobia rally

by Sunny on 12th February, 2006 at 3:33 pm

Brother’s gotta sign a petition before they give him a fruit!

StrangelyPsychedelique has uploaded tons of pictures from yesterday’s march.

It was all good natured, I was told by brothers who went.

Quite a few X-files fans turned up too, as SP shows.

    Funny captions too.

One of the placards depicting the twin towers burning has a message written.

“5 years on 2 wars but still no truth”

Is this from one of those Muslim moderates that we hear so much about.

    2. Riz — on 12th February, 2006 at 4:16 pm

      this is outrageous, a fruit-for-signatures scandal !

    3. Jim — on 12th February, 2006 at 4:20 pm

      And these are the ‘moderates’

    4. Al-Hack — on 12th February, 2006 at 4:25 pm

Jim, I don’t see anyone asking for a decapitation. Do you? Is a moderate defined as someone willing to lick GW Bush’s balls?

    5. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 4:37 pm

      And these are the ‘moderates’

Yeah! They were going to kill people with those oranges and bananas!

    6. Clive — on 12th February, 2006 at 5:01 pm

Is this woman, holding up a picture of Ayatollah Khomeini a moderate as well?

      http://www.flickr.com/photos/kesara/98665690/in/set-72057594063098059/

    7. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 5:07 pm

      What do you think Clive?

    8. NorahJones — on 12th February, 2006 at 5:10 pm

Can someone please tell me what they will accept
      as ‘moderate’?

It seems it doesn’t matter who the rally stands for, the
fact that they have the nerve to be insulted shows they’re
just like all the rest of the muslims on the telly.

Jay, I remember reading you saying there should be a
no muslim day… Imagine. A whole day without those
      troublemaking islamists…

Clive, well done for finding that ONE woman to make an
example of. I agree buddy, they’re all the same.

Al-Hack, couldn’t have put it better myself.

    9. Asma' bint Marwan — on 12th February, 2006 at 5:17 pm

One of these moderates is holding up a sign which says “Muhammad mercy to mankind”

I wonder if my psudenom or the Banu Quraiza would have agreed. You can’t say that Muslims lack a sense of humor.

    10. Old Pickler — on 12th February, 2006 at 5:41 pm

Asma, good point, but I think you mean “namesake”, not “pseudonym”.

Asma’ bint Marwan, for those who don’t know, was a poetess who wrote some satirical verses about Mohammed. Mohammed, in his infinite mercy, had her brutally murdered in front of her children.

    11. Kulvinder — on 12th February, 2006 at 5:55 pm

I can’t see any problem with that protest.

    12. Al-Hack — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:06 pm

Going by that Clive anyone holding a picture of Ariel Sharon would also be a fanatic then? Who’s killed more, that is the question ain’t it?

    13. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:14 pm

Is this from one of those Muslim moderates that we hear so much about. [Asma’ bint Marwan ]

The person holding the placard was NON MUSLIM bright spark…

    14. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:16 pm

How can you tell she is non Muslim?

    15. jamal — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:22 pm

Jim,stop with this “moderates” rubbish. We are muslims.

But yeah, it was good to see this good natured protest without the transgression of bounds we saw last time.

      Nice pics too.

    16. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:23 pm

How can you tell she is non Muslim? [jay singh]

Because I talked to her at the rally.

    17. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:28 pm

Because I talked to her at the rally.

So what was she? And what was she doing at the rally? And why was she holding a picture of Ayatollah Khomeini?

    18. StrangelyPsychedelique — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:31 pm

      >>And why was she holding a picture of Ayatollah Khomeini?

Poster boy? the Olde James Dean?

    19. jamal — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:36 pm

SP, good work there. I just checked through all the pics. Very nice.

    20. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:36 pm

So what was she? And what was she doing at the rally?[jay singh]

She is an anti war campaigner and the person holding the Khomeni picture is someone else.

    21. Bikhair — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:39 pm

      Old Pickler,

You know I have never heard that story before. I hate to go off topic and if Sunny will afford us some space, I would like you to inform me of the fate of Asma’ bint Marwan.

In regards to Banu Quraiza, I thought we had this talk over on Indigo Jo blogs. Do even remember anything that I said in regards to those people?

    22. Don — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:40 pm

‘the person holding the Khomeni picture is someone else. ‘

What, someone else who has got his arm in her sleeve?

    23. StrangelyPsychedelique — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:41 pm

      >>SP, good work there. I just checked through all the pics. Very nice.

Cheers Jamal! Glad you liked em. Its only a part of the protest though! I regret not being able to get any of the speakers but Darkstar does have some on his thread:

    24. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:48 pm

She is an anti war campaigner and the person holding the Khomeni picture is someone else.

      LoL

She is holding the picture herself dude.

    25. jamal — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:51 pm

      Nice.

      I regret not going.

Based on last time, I didnt want to risk getting my face in the newspaper if things got out of hand.

    26. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:51 pm

What, someone else who has got his arm in her sleeve?[don]

You what? The twin towers picture is being held up by a white woman and the Khomeni picture is being held up by a Persian looking woman with a scarf on her head.

    27. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:54 pm

You what? The twin towers picture is being held up by a white woman and the Khomeni picture is being held up by a Persian looking woman with a scarf on her head.

      Dude, are you on hallucinogens?

    28. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:56 pm

No are you? So let me get this right the woman holding the 9/11 pictures is the SAME person who is holding the picture of the Ayatollah?

    29. Sunny — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:58 pm

You’re talking about two diff pics and people for gods sake! Geezer is referring to the 9/11 woman and Jay you’re talking about the woman who is holding up the portrait. Geezer had a chat only with the former.

Lol at jamal’s pic in the papers. I thought it was you with the suicide suit? ;)

    30. DarkStar — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:58 pm

I talked to the woman holding the 9/11 placard - and yes she is white/English….the lady who is holding the ayatollah photo is clearly or persian origin…

How on earth are you guys think its the same person is beyond me…..

    31. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 6:59 pm

      http://www.flickr.com/photos/kesara/98665690/in/set-72057594063098059/

    33. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:01 pm

Calm down geezer, I don’t even know what 9/11 placard you’re talking about. I thought you were talking about the Ayatollah woman.

    34. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:04 pm

No dude I was talking about the 9/11 woman that the other guy was commenting on.

The Ayatollah woman is obviously Muslim but I didn’t get time to talk to her.

      .

    35. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:05 pm

      Cross wires dude my apologies.

    36. David T — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:05 pm

The woman holding the Ayatollah picture is Old Pickler?

What an extraordinary thing to be doing.

Explain yourself, Pickler! Why were you carrying that picture?

    37. jamal — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:08 pm

      lol@sunny.

more then anything, I value my salary!

    38. Geezer — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:09 pm

      It’s cool Jay no worries.

    39. Jay Singh — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:11 pm

The Ayatollah woman looks more Pakistani than Persian to me - the nose stud looks desi and the dupatta looks like shalwaar kameez material.

    40. Sunny — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:15 pm

I think there’s a story in these pics about the looming “fruits for petition signatures” scandal. Well done for highlighting it Riz!

    41. StrangelyPsychedelique — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:19 pm

      >>think there’s a story in these pics about the looming “fruits for petition signatures” scandal. Well done for highlighting it Riz!

WHOOOP before we go there one might have to verify the fruit were tokens in return for signatures…which I doubt. Admittedly I paid little attention to the stand - too much going on around it.

Will do my best to check up on that…

    42. Don — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:21 pm

      The picture in question is;

      http://www.flickr.com/photos/kesara/98665690/in/set-72057594063098059/

It always was. No-one raised the 9/11 pic.

    43. Don — on 12th February, 2006 at 7:22 pm

Or have we sorted that? Not important.

    44. Bijna — on 12th February, 2006 at 8:11 pm

      > Jim,stop with this “moderates” rubbish. We are muslims

A lot of right people agree with you :D

    45. Clive — on 13th February, 2006 at 7:42 am

Clive, well done for finding that ONE woman to make an
example of. I agree buddy, they’re all the same.

I didn’t say that, you did. I was just interested that on a march of moderates (organised by some rather immoderate people, I’m led to believe), there was this woman holding up a picture of Khomeini, symbol of repressive Iranian theocracy.

I’m sure there were plenty of nice cuddly Muslims there too. The real nutjobs (9/11 woman, man waving Union Jack) seem to be non-Muslims

    46. Sol — on 13th February, 2006 at 1:26 pm

Don: “No-one raised the 9/11 pic.”

      Read the FIRST MESSAGE, dude.

      Geez…

    47. Asma' bint Marwan — on 14th February, 2006 at 1:36 am

“I talked to the woman holding the 9/11 placard - and yes she is white/English….the lady who is holding the ayatollah photo is clearly or persian origin…

How on earth are you guys think its the same person is beyond me”

Absolutely, you would never find a Muslim going to such gutter lows.
