  • Revealed: Obama’s drug-infested Pakistani connection!

    by Sunny
    23rd January, 2009 at 4:21 pm

LOL. Who says Obama has no love for Pakistanis? This picture, posted on the NY Times blog, was amusing I thought, for both their hairstyles.

Sohale Siddiqi (also Hal Siddiqi) was the best friend and roommate of Barack Obama while he attended Columbia University in the early 1980s. He is identified as “Sadik” in Obama’s memoir, Dreams From My Father. Obama describes Saddiqi as “a short, well-built Pakistani” who smoked marijuana and snorted cocaine. Siddiqi was from Karachi, Pakistan and came to America from London on a tourist visa. He overstayed his visa becoming an illegal alien. [1]

Obama first met Siddiqi when he attended Occidental College in Los Angeles. Obama was living with a group of Pakistani students when Siddiqi arrived for a visit. Obama transferred to Columbia University and lived off campus with Siddiqi. Siddiqi was not a student and made his living working in restaurants. Together they lived in a drug-ridden slum apartment on 339 East 94th St. Siddiqi go the apartment by lying, saying he had a well paid job. The apartment was furnished by what they could find in the streets. Obama and Siddiqi would go out together and enjoy the nightlife of New York City. Siddiqi claims Obama stopped using drugs when he arrived at Columbia. Obama eventually moved out when Siddiqi’s partying began to interfere with his studies.

Regardless of whether or not I agree with O on all issues (I don’t), I have to say, he is one cool ass mofo. The more I know about his past, the more I have to shake my head in disbelief. This man actually managed to become POTUS. Truly Incredible.

I have to say, he is one cool ass mofo.

He does look ridiculously cool and cocky in that photo — he actually reminds me of Tubbs in Miami Vice (the original series, not the recent film). I guess the dude was already cool at a relatively early age. How many of us can say we were genuinely that swaggering and poseurish in our uni days ?

*Jai looks around and sheepishly raises his hand*.

This is a superb clip from one of the main inauguration balls last week — it’s Beyonce beautifully singing the Etta James soul classic “At Last” while Obama and his wife dance on stage. What a smoothie. Also, spot Denzel Washington and Sting in the audience.

      Enjoy.

On a much more serious note, I have to say that I’m more than a little surprised that PP hasn’t had more (serious) articles on the various events during the first week of Obama’s presidency (especially considering this blog’s extensive coverage during the US election) — eg. rapidly-issued executive orders shutting down Gitmo and the closure of the CIA’s international detention centres, his outright banning of torture, the various envoys appointed to deal with issues in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.
