    Welcome to the weekend hippies!

by Leon on 5th December, 2008 at 1:08 pm

My word, am I glad the working week is drawing to a close! It’s been a long week; in fact it’s been a long month/year and I’m more than ready for my Christmas break.

But anyway, mustn’t complain because the weekend open thread is here! The theme this week is Pink Floyd. Why Pink Floyd? Well because they’re simply one of the greatest bands ever to enter our ears.

    PF

I recently re-acquired the excellent Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii and watched it last night for the first time in over ten years. It still rocks! And it reminded me I still have a slightly hippy streak…lol. It really brought me back to my teenage years of musical discovery, and I was left with a question: why aren’t there bands like this anymore??

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, this is part one of Echoes from the live at Pompeii DVD. Standard rules apply, no politics, infighting or negativity; have a great weekend people!

      Zeppelin beats Floyd anyday…
curious though Dark side of the moon was in the US top 100 for 20 years or something.

Now I grew up on Blondie and the Jam, but always had some classic rock and Beatles in the background - it was classic even in 1980 - go anywhere in the world and you will find fans of British 70s rock bands (and their basatard metal ofspring. Why?

I have discovered Indian idol today and I am loving it!

But the yut of Kathmandu seem to be wearing the last of the Pink Floyd and Sex Pistols T-shirts …Perhaps they slipped across to Bangkok where you can buy bucket loads of punk ..

Only saw Pink Floyd the once, when they performed The Wall at Earl’s Court back in 1981

      RIP Rick Wright, indeed.

When it comes to playing the guitar, Dave Gilmour is the Guitar God. Eric who?

Anyhoo i’m gonna be back in England in little more than to weeks! My first visit back home since i jumped on the boat to American cornfields ^.^.

At the mo, my iTunes playing Odyssey’s greatest hits…

      “shake
      shake your body down
      oh shake
      shake your body down
      oh shake
      everybody
      all you people gather round…”

      Mo,

Cool - is that the jargon you young groovy folk use? I find this quite exciting…

      “shake
      shake your body down
      oh shake
      shake your body down
      oh shake
      everybody
      all you people gather round…”

Is that not an ode to Parkinsons Disease? We just love you, you know. You young folk, you are so funny. Love and terrorist fist bumps to you too.

      Hello Picklers!

And goodbye, because I am off to listen to the whole of Dark Side Of The Moon in the dark, right now.

Heh I don’t think I’ve done that since I was about 16, and there was weed involved then too. :D

sigh Pink Floyd was a bit before my time.

It’s never too late man! I’m 33 so they’re technically before my time too but to hell with it, the music’s good.
