The Mail and Express are read by the men who think they ought to run the country.
The Daily Mirror is read by the men and women who work for their country
And The Sun is read by the men who don’t care who runs the country so long as she is well endowed.

Ah Vikrant, I think you’re being too harsh. Did you read it then? You were out there recently weren’t you?

Playboy is shite nowadays. In fact I don’t like any lad’s mag, I think they’re all rubbish – but Indian Maxim is obviously going to be different to British Maxim. It’s a start and I wish it well, although I doubt I’d ever buy more than 1 copy.

Anything’s better than Arabic Barbie. And you read the Sun? Oh dear, oh dear.

Blashphemy! Much like Arabic Barbie… they’ve toned down Maxim!!! Indian Maxim is an absolute abomination. Darn, Indians are still a long way from something like Playboy or The Sun (only shitty tabloid i care to read).

How to invent an American sport :
Take a fun and exciting sport se.g cricket / rugby.
change the rules to make it lame and boring, add helmets, shoulder pads, fancy names of animals appended to teams and santily dressed cheerleaders..
then call the tournament played only by Americans (Canadians hardly count) the World series, World championship etc etc..

The most interesting thing on ESPN here in the USA are the assorted spelling bees, hot dog eating contests and yes figure skating…

Ah, you see I was being very lazy and only considering western europeans, i have not ventured east.

I was manily thinking of cultures are closely connected to Britain – Spain, Italy, France, Germany &etc – and male behaviour. I remember when a Swedish male friend kissed me on both cheeks, there were many dropped bacon sandwiches, and this was in Leicester Sq!

I would say watching wrestling is kinda wierd.
I found that i was inspired by thier bodies and cool wrestling moves; so much so that you try them at home.
But they make sure you don’t become gay whilst watching WWE, as they have scantily clad women prancing around at every interval and even matches, not to mention them wrestling in nightwear.

The VHP regularly burn valentins cards every year, so burning mags that may show more female flesh (remember the protest about the film which had a lesbian affair?) would not be that surprising.

Man’s World was not a lads magazine… it’s more like GQ… or the Indian version of the american mag Cigar Afficianado (which I thought was a hilarious title).

You know, I’ve given this subject a lot of thought. I’ve been keeping tabs on the Indian press and on Indian girls in general, so have been waiting for this.

When you think about it, Maxim India has the potential to be the greatest Maxim in the world. Perhaps the greatest magazine (after Asiana, obviously Shabbs).

Why? Take a closer look at the pic.

Priyanka = Indian girls on the front. Indian girls, as we all know, are the hottest around. Good start. Also, Maxim isn’t proper porn, so it’s ideal for slutty Indian girls who want to strip – but not all the way cos that’s BAD.

Doctor Death – The Indian killing machine = WEIRD stories. Mags like Bizarre sprung up from lads mags covering weird shit. Trivia for the pub. Which country has more weird shit than anywhere else? India of course!

The price = whatever it is, you know it’s gonna be less than the forty pounds or however much most glossies cost here.

How to Beg = outrageous cover line for a country with millions of beggars. Excellent. This is black humour (I hope) and it’s something India is in desperate need of. There’s a market, I can feel it.

I shall watch the progress of Maxim India with beady eyes and a box of tissues.

Men around the world are essentially the same. And what with Indian men having above average average testosterone levels, they are – if anything – more laddish. Of course it depends how you define laddish. If you mean football-watching, beer-drinking and chip-eating, of course the Brits win (yeah!) but if you mean horny, hairy and hoping to get laid – Indians are near the top of the pile.

And I agree with kismet hardy – a very nondescript cover.

And remember, the REAL Indian playboy.
