Could be that their destination in itself is suspiciuos. The two of them would double the number of islamist in Finland.

Truth be told, if everyone who made a negative comment about Gordon Brown was arrested, they would probably need 50m or so cells. I hope these guys were'nt arrested just to show the rest of us what happens if we show any dissent towards the government or it's ministers! Any vacancies in China?

Well, a site posting messages from "Al Qaeda in Britain" is likely to be an “Islamacist Web-site”. or they wouldn't get in touch with them.
By the look of things the reason two were held is because they were leaving Britain- reasonably or not- and the third was held to complete the set.

Sunny,

This is a semi-serious point. How do you ensure that the BBC does not describe PP as an "Islamacist Web-site"? How did they judge it?

I mean, really, what's the definition? 'Cause the Police say it is?

What nonsense.

At the moment the country is in a high mood due to our non-anticipated success in the Olympics. This means Gordon Brown is not in the news (and he still has to fight the great pretender-Miliband) but the news is not making any impact on the public.

If the public is not buoyed with the Olympics, then they are out shopping on the high street, and well, erm, being happy. The problem for Brown who's just been out meeting 'our' boys in Afghanistan is that no one has noticed, and he needs to make an impact before he really loses out to Miliband and Cameron.

And so, let's go and arrest a few homeboys in the northern towns..No one will notice and no one will care. Then let's up the security ante, after the Olympics! I wonder if Brown will use the 2012 Olympics as the starting point for an increase in further police powers??
hmmm

Am I too cynical or do I find this story just a little bit too convenient?

Arrest a few people to stress the needs for greater security measures. Show how we really need ID cards to track these dangerous people.

Grab a few headlines and hope for the best.
