I’ve just visited Riijksmuseum in Amsterdam ( but it could as well have been National Gallery in London ),
A persons face and the interpretation of the face has been an integral and important part of our culture ar least since the middle ages.
A person who wears a Niqab has decided not to be a part of our society and our traditions.

Ah, yes the usual garbage. Let women decide for themselves what to wear.

Of course, there can be family and cultural pressure to dress (or not dress) in a certain way. I am not sure the government should interfere with this though. People have to deal with their family and peer pressure problems themselves, which can be pretty damn tough in some cases.

What support groups are there for Muslim women who don’t/do want to cover up?

The fact that one opposes islamic extremism does not mean that one supports hedonism! there is a midway called ‘moderation’.

However, I do agree that this should be a debate held by religious groups and not politicians.

Everything in moderation I’d expect would be the answer.

Niqab is often (not always, of course) a badge of Islamist politics, either their own or their families/husbands. Or a badge of very strict wahhabist type culture. Especially the one’s milling around behind their husband in various parts of London. The message is very much “we are different to you”, “do not look at me” etc etc

Criticising the normalisation of soft pornography is not mutually exclusive to this view point. I am no prude, but I do understand that this constant stream of soft pornography to the young male mind does give them the impression that women are basically sex objects. Which can only lead to frustration for both sexes. And sad role models for females growing up.
