Kucinich wants to impeach Bush
Democrat congressman Denis Kucinich, also briefly one of the presidential contenders, launched an attempt to impeach Bush.
On Monday evening, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) took to the floor of the House of Representatives to read out 35 articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush in an almost five-hour marathon.
Kucinich’s action made an immediate splash on the Internet. For example, at progressive website Democratic Underground, the historic performance quickly garnered an astonishing 56 separate threads on the most-recommended list.
From Rawstory, (hat-tip Left-I). I’m a bit annoyed that the Democrats haven’t supported this a bit more strongly, given that the Republicans wanted to impeach Bill Clinton for a lot less. Liberals still continue to lack balls, I’d say.
What’s also interesting is how much interest the story generated online. Kucinich’s website went down after a reported 100,000 people per hour were visiting it. The American media almost universally ignored it. Also on Huffington Post.
It’s time the Democrats grew some hairs on their chest and stopped worrying that trying to impeach Bush would damage their re-election chances. Though, admittedly, there is a chance it would rally the small, hardcore Bush base and make them come out during the election.

Impeach a democratically elected leader? That’s fucking nuts!
You think this is in any way sensible?
And don’t even think of comparing the politics of the Palestinian territories with the USA
Utter nonsense. Practically impossible. Why go to the expense, the length, to go ahead with this? To humiliate a president, who has won two terms in office by the way? It wouldn’t even happen, and if did, it would be years and years down the line. He only has a few months length of his tenure, so let it be.
Really what would impeaching him now achieve?
Better for the Democrats to ratify the ICC and make the US a signatory. Then get Bush, Cheney, and Kissinger for that matter, on charges of crimes against humanity. That’s the only way to hang the bastards.
Damn right, Kucinich is the man!
Why go to the expense, the length, to go ahead with this? To humiliate a president, who has won two terms in office by the way?
Which is, erm, exactly what the Republicans did to Clinton. Except, the crimes of Bush are much much worse.
I’m not suggesting they should go through with this until the end (though I’d love to see Cheney and Rumsfeld indicted), only to take seriously a lot of the allegations Kucinich made.
Dennis Kucinich is absolutely right and I am so glad that someone is putting it out there at the very top.
There is a quick summary of all 35 articles here:

I hope that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfled et al are hounded to their graves. How can it be otherwise? Justice is justice. Is it not?
Kucinich and the Dems are such loser wimps. Why didn’t they introduce these articles 4 years ago?
