Whatever he said Israel couldn't have a better friend than John Hagee. He is probably one of the greatest supporters of Israel on planet earth right now. What a lot of Christians in Israel don't understand is the West's unstinting support of Israel when the country was built on the usurpation of Christian and Muslim land, which still continues today.

Hagee helped found Christians United for Israel on February 7, 2006 as a "Christian AIPAC" lobbying Congress to support Israel. Just like many evangelical Christians he believes the Jews are God's "chosen people" and Israel is the land promised to them from God.

It is right that McCain distance himself from Hagee. The influence of the Christian Right in American politics has grown in recent years and having a significant influence on foreign policy.

"Yeah and what did Bush do? Did Chenney and Rummy fight?"

Why would I care what Bush and his covey of minions did? This is about McCain and his character, which I would say is far better than Bush, Cheny, Rummy, or Obama.

"You love making sweeping generalisations as well but half the Republican Party wouldn’t know their arse from a gun. They love to make war so what is the big fucking deal if one of them has fought in a war?

See this German News Report about what your Republican Chums are really fighting a war for:"

ROFL, I love your conclusions. Since I like McCain's moderate background, I must be Republican. Wrong again genius. I have voted a solid Democractic ticket since I was old enough to vote. I am only reconsidering now because of my reluctance to vote for a naive hard leftie (aka Obama).

"The sad truth is that in America, a black man has to prove his patriotism more than a white man."

I love it when people make sweeping conclusions of racism with no real evidence.

John McCain is never questioned about his patriotism due to his long military service to his country which has included being awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Distinguished Flying Cross in addition to being a tortured POW for nearly 5 and a half years. What did Barack Obama do?

Seems Hagee is a big time speaker for AIPAC who won't hear any criticism of his views, check this piece out at CBS:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/05/23/opinion/main4122421.shtml?source=RSSattr=Opinion_4122421

So if AIPAC don't care why should McCain?

The problem and it is growing is a fundamentalism in Christianity which will use democracy and voting to achieve its aims and the media is blindly letting them do this and Jewish Organizations such as AIPAC are allowing this to go by unchecked.

Also the liberal bloggers who get bashed so often are the ones digging up the info on McCain.

Hagee hasn't quite left the McCain camp despite the assertions.

THAT is why he has to account for this.

Account for what? That he also repudiated the same rubbish and has never even said anyhthing vaguely like Wright was meant to say.

Incidentally Morgoth, what did you find so offensive about Rev Wright's comments? Which one, and what did he say?

Funny that you're willing to let the white man off the hook so easily, but the black man still has to account for soemthing he has rejected...?

Well, Gege, McCain says it clearly enough:

"But let me also be clear, Reverend Hagee was not and is not my pastor or spiritual advisor, and I did not attend his church for twenty years."

The Obamessiah is up to his eyeballs in fruitloopy black-supremicist nonsense, and has been for DECADES. THAT is why he has to account for this.

The sad truth is that in America, a black man has to prove his patriotism more than a white man.

People are fully aware that in their churches, the preacher will often say things they dont agree with.

However, Obama for reasons best known to certain Americans, is required to account for every single belief that his pastor, wife, cat, dog and school teacher have ever held.

I'm in a good mood today, Sunny. Labour getting a right kicking does that to me. Especially such a self-inflicted one. You should really correct the type though.

Sunny,

Thanks for pointing that up. He should not escape media scrutiny, yet old media seem unable to see that. Yet new media can?

I think we are at some sort of cusp, here.

What I admire about you, and this site come to that, is that you expose bullshit in a way that old media seems to have forgotten. If we go back far enough, it was the reason they (broadsheets) existed, was it not? Perhaps it is that you have the time, unlike 'journalists', to actually take a case apart. Which you do.

I'd hope you never compromise on your evidence led opinions. Though it is unlikely to get you a seat in Parliament!
