Vivian Westwood, divisive racial lobbying, cronyism, deluded revolutionary nostalgia, arrogance, anti-semitism, a poor record on crime, a bias against non-alternative lifestyles, wasteful management, undemocratic tendencies, the fact he's been there too long... Hmmmmmmmmm.

On the other hand, what if there was another 7/7? Could Boris represent this great city and speak for it with eloquence and passion? Can we really risk him? Is there no trial period, for example?

In short, through gritted teeth, this is my eleventh hour conclusion.
Ken is a cunt. A competent cunt. Vote Ken.

I am with Vivian:

'Vivienne Westwood
Fashion designer

"Boris as mayor? Unthinkable. It just exposes democracy as a sham, especially if people don't vote for Ken - he's the best thing in politics. Unthinkable."

At the risk of being called boring for banging on about it could everyone just get out and vote to try and stop the BNP. I hate Livingstone with a passion, I have seen his courting and funding of ethnic minority groups, both real and imagined, fuelling support for most successful racist party this country has ever seen.

It may well be that our campaign, more than a million newspapers and leaflets distributed throughout London in a month, will get the vote up to where he gets back in but the far right are a far greater threat.

If he is reelected he will be a lame duck and he will be seen as having got in by promising ethnic minorities privileges that he will have to deliver on.

We will be living in city increasingly divided along racial lines with an outer circle Tory controlled at local level with a majority of members on the London Assembly, but unable to control Livingstone's increasingly meglomaniac behaviour.

I am going to hang around for the post mortem and then off to Spain.

Actually I think that’s a good idea.. the celebrity thing and I could see it working too. In fact, you only get a signature/photo with the celeb if you actually vote, rather than just turn up(we know what the asians are like:loophole-rs) and the free scones should be funded by the celebs too..all in the name of erm..erm…democracy and helping further the cause..and recognition (in the case of B-Z list celebrities).

"I know what would be better than free food or hosting it in a pub. Why not have it that each polling station will have a special celebrity voter who will make an appearance at some point in the day — tho no one knows when. And after s/he votes they will do a signing session at a separate table. Oh and free scones too (but no raisins and bring your own butter/marg so as not to make too large a dent on the public coffers, and you’d have to sign a disclaimer re: any allergies)."

that's so long and convoluted! we London folk have simple needs free food and booze is enough, we spend enough time waiting around for trains/buses/good weather to arrive-i don't want to have to hang around for some random celebrity!!!
