  • Three Tamils arrested on terrorism charges

    by Sunny
    30th April, 2008 at 1:16 am

According to the Indy blog, three people were picked up yesterday, suspected of funding or helping the LTTE (aka Tamil Tigers).

    Jerome Taylor adds:

But while today’s police action should be welcomed, I’d also like to know what’s happening to a much more prominent protagonist of the maelstrom in Sri Lanka who was arrested by UK police in November, living in Kensington of all places.

His real name is Vinayagamorthi Muralitharan, but most people in Sri Lanka know him by his nom de guerre: Colonel Karuna (pictured). Very few newspapers, including The Independent, paid any attention to the arrest in November of Colonel Karuna for an unspecified immigration offence. But back in Sri Lanka it was front page news.

Read the whole post, on this Karuna character and the govt’s unwillingness to do much about the funding of LTTE people here.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Colonel Karuna.

Are MI5 going to burst through my front door?
