The Increasingly Rare Open Thread
Hello All,
Apologies for the absence of the open thread last week but I spent some of last weekend at a seminar in London and what felt like the rest of the following week running about the tube muttering why in God’s name is everything shut? If it wasn’t for the intervention of a kindly Londoner I have every confidence I’d be there yet. I’ll be doing it all again the first weekend in April -what can possibly go wrong?
This week has been a more sedate affair. The biggest bit of excitement was buying a hat. A fine hat it is to. Red, cheerful and warm. I love it so much I feel I should name it.
That’s it for this week I shall leave you with some of Albert Kahn’s fine autochromes.

Hi Clairwil!
How do I link to the next thread on your video? I assume there is a part two?
Hmmm, you could try clicking on the video screen which should open it up on youtube, and it might be there?
Leon is right! There is a part two and three. Hurrah!
that made me fall asleep! I thought the weekend thread was politics free? I was looking forward to your eclectic music / soft-porn videos clairwil
I’ve been looking for an excuse to link to the Daily Mash, which is a sort of UK ‘Onion’. This is quite funny, I think:

BTW it is satire!
There was a superb documentary on BBC4 last week from the Storyville series. About Mallick Sidibe, the Malian photographer.
One day left to see it on iPlayer though. Recommended.
