I think Sunny was just referring to the Al Jaz blogrolling.

Logo/badge-wise...I think it's nice to keep the layout simple (on here, makes a contrast to my own). The BBC badge is new and I like that cos I was just thinking the other day about how much I like the beeb.

Whatever you may think about Al-Jazeera, Tony' Blair's attempts to use the law to gag the press is fucked up. And since you were one of the first to publish this story following that incident, why are you averse to linking to BlairWatch via the 'I'll publish the Memo...' logo?

Jez - ermm, on reflection, no.

I was one of the earle ones to add my name to that list because I believe in freedom of speech and also believe that journalists should be allowed to report without governments or anyone else threatening them with extermination. Saying that, I don't hold up Al-Jazeera as a bastion of liberal, balanced reporting that deserves my personal endorsement. As I've stated before, they are to me the Arab version of CNN (maybe not as jingoistic as Fox but getting there). So I refuse to go and start hugging them even if I support their editorial integrity.

Well i'm not blaming all the India's ills on Islamic invaders. As for Muslim Rajputs... most Hindu Rajputs dispute their claims. I've never been casteist or partisan. Infact i'm atheist but i see myself as a Hindu in cultural sense. I've got no love for Hinditva mind you.

Bluey, you're like Vikrant. Both of you talk too much rubbish sometimes. I don't want to get into the Laloo Prasad Yadav debate but you keep twisting around arguments (to bring in Pakistan for e.g.) is funny. Have some coherence in your arguments.

But I must add the situation in Pakistan is worse. All feudal attitudes remain there. The writ of the State does not run beyond select pockets in the country. All hypocrisies of Islam are there.

They are surviving because of continued American support. The West does not want to see Pakistan disintegrated. The day Pakistan Government opposes Western countries you may be sure that the end is near.

Vikrant stop calling names.

I agree that you are a smart guy. But Vikrant one must not confine oneself to narrow walls of Rightwing or Leftwing.

It is possible to be secular rightwinger. All over Northern India Right wing parties(long extinct in South) are becoming a marginal force and instead catse based parties are appearing from nowhere. Why? Because of feudal attitudes and caste atrocities. And they refuse to change.

Why is Bihar the most backward state in the country ? It's because BHURA BAL (Bhumihar,Rajput,Bramhan and Lala) never gave respect to lower castes and exploited them in every respect and still continue to do so. And what is the result ? Lower castes combining with Muslims gain power and misrule the state pushing it into an abyss of darkness.

Putting the blame on Muslims and invaders will never work. You must do some soul searching.

I don't have any more love for Al-Jazera than I do for Fox News. And by the way, the two are very comparable. I've watched Fox and I could handle about 30 minutes before I felt my brain hurting with anguish.

The point many seem to be missing is we have double standards from our governments. They keep going on about the freedom of the press and freedom of speech being the lynchpin of democracy that they wish to impose on others. Yet when someone challenges their viewpoint with something they cannot control, then they get annoyed and try underhand techniques to silence them.

The strength of any democracy lies in being able to withstand criticism. If Bush and Blair are truly trying to do something right, then their actions should be able to speak for themselves, and they should be able to handle criticism instead of trying to silence dissenting voices.

What worries me is when self-proclaimed liberals try a moral-equivalence by saying "well they are bad, why are you defending them" without getting the underlying reasons.

I would stand up for the right of Fox News to be heard alongside Al-Jazeera. In fact I've even stood up for the right of the BNP to be heard, so no one can accuse me of having double standards (Vikrant).

Oh and I've taken off those dodgy posts.

Rohin, you must go easy on young Vikrant. At the age of 16, with all those hormones, testosterone and sexual frustration welling up inside him, it is common for the adolescent to try and assert
his virility by siezing upon the 'masculine' values of right wing conservatism. Don't worry, hopefully exposure to a progressive site such as this will soothe those raging demons which infesy young Vikrant's soul (maybe some hot Pakistani girls would help as well :) )

Really? You know me so well from a smattering of posts on website? My gosh, you must be a genius! I submit to your superior intellect. But you already knew I'd say that, didn't you? I can guarantee you DON'T know how I think and I wouldn't presume to say I know what you would say on any given topic, simply because you are right of centre.

Your hatred of the LEFT WING, which you clearly see as some globally-connected masonic group where we all tell each other what to think, has become a bit comedic. I could rabbit on about ridiculous right whingers, but I don't as it doesn't really get anyone anywhere.
