Merry Christmas
Pickled Politics wishes everyone a Happy Christmas, and reminds you that this is the one day of the year that you should spend with your families, not reading Pickled Politics, innit.
If you are reading this, then reflect on who you would cast in the Pickled Politics nativity play (to start the ball rolling, I would cast Douglas Clark as one of the wise men, even though he is left-wing).
(This is a time-delayed post, so I am not actually up at this time).
Season’s greetings and happy Winterval!

I’m reading PP heh
… Merry Christmas folks!
Merry Christmas, peace and goodwill to everyone.
*********************
Don definitely gets my vote as another one of the wise men.
Morgoth or Mazumdar might be good as King Herod. I think Mazumdar’s badmaash and outspoken personality has some similaries to Hugh Laurie’s portrayal of Dr House, and can imagine him playing Herod in exactly the same way — beard, insulting wisecracks, walking stick an’ all
Merry Christmas folks!
Fereeha would be Mary cos she’s so pretty
But where would you find sheep on PP?
Merry Christmas, all.
I’ll be El Caganer (a strange Catalan custom. Read it up.) Merry Christmas
Rumbold,
Can I tell you a story?
When I was wee, about six or seven or so, we did have a nativity play. As far as I remember, and I’d prefer to blot it out, I was in fact, the front end of the donkey.
I am an unreliable narrator at the best of times. But my rear half seemed to be quite oppressed. The wee bastard said I farted, when I just released wind.
You could probably find a petition on behalf of rear end donkeys at 10 Downing St.
Not that I’d sign it, what with being a front end donkey.
Some of this might be true, some of it may not.
And I think your good self, Rohin and Don are the three wise men around here. Despite you being far too right wing
I also have a huge amount of time for the wise women that post here, Sonia and Desi spring to mind.
Peace on Earth, goodwill to all men, even Tories!
I am well and truly STUFFED! Like a Turkey! And so many sweeeet presents – I love Christmas. Am heading to Vegas tomorrow, woohoo!
Have a good holiday everyone!
Sunny,
I’m heading to Phoenix, so we’ll be in the same timezone.
Never mind the carbon footprint, I want to see the Grand Canyon with the family before I and many others lose their jobs, houses, dreams, and the UK economy is engulfed in a vicious debt-fuelled recession which shakes the western polity to its foundations and heralds a decade of bloody instability as several countries flex their newly buffed military muscles, the mutual interests of international trade and climate change takes a back seat to a new multi polar cold war.
OK, that’s only a 1-in-5 worst-case scenario.
Still, you have been warned.
You only live once. On the other hand, it’s a good time to batten down the hatches, stick with last year’s fashions, and pay down debt.
Happy new year
Haw’s Christmas sacrifice
I thought he had been chased away from the little patch of green in front of the Houses of Parliament where he had set up tent – glad to know he’s still standing and waiting for peace. Brian Haw zindabad!
Happy holidays to everyone else; Special Xmas hugs to Rumbold, ZinZin, Clairwil, Sunners, Don, Leon, Desi Italiana and the Archangel Sonia.
Why thank you douglas, you must’ve been at the mulled wine with a frankincense chaser if you think I’m wise. Do you think in years to come we will evolve two warring subcultures, the snooty front-enders and the proletariat rear-enders and the war of the donkey will consume us all?
I was in a nativity play too. I was a shepherd and I think I had a line. My costume consisted of a dress and a round piece of fake fur on top of my head. Very bizarre.
“Think about it man, three men with turbans and beards turn up to a kiddie’s party without an invite…Punjabi man!” – GGM
Well, if we’re going to start giving “special hugs” to certain people, mine go out to Jagdeep, Rohin, Sunny, Ravi Naik, Refresh, Rumbold, The Don, newbie Deep Singh, and yes — believe it or not — to Mazumdar too.
The “3 wise men” on PP as far as I’m concerned are Don, Ravi and Rumbold. I’d include Rohin too, like the mysterious “5th Beatle”, but it’s a little known fact that he was actually the unrecognised 4th Wise Man who would have made it to the party in Bethleham but had a dodgy Sat-Nav and accidentally ended up in Slough.
Jees, maybe I’m really the King Herod of this site!
Ah well, you reap what you sow.
El Cid, you and I are the cherubs singing and playing jazz trumpet from the corners of the firmament.
Special hugs, mulled wine and Douglas being half a donkey. At least Pickled Politics has not lost sight of the real spirit of Christmas.
…..along with Kismet Hardy, Katy Newton and (most of all) the Chairwoman too, of course.
You too, of course Vikrant. And Sahil as well.
What the hell, Justforfun gets a hug from me too. And Razib, if he’s lurking here.
Okay, I think that covers everyone I currently have warm feelings towards.
Has anybody hugged Kulvinder yet? C’mon, squeezies.
