I can’t help but notice that a few PP contributors have no shame in objectifying women-so clichéd.

A Muslim woman who is bold enough to be unorthodox and draw media’s attention to her self is bound to be controversial. Whilst some people will be happy for her success and admire her courage and strength, others will find reasons to bring her down and put her back in the box “where she belongs”.

Just like anything else these days, this issue/non-issue is also blown out of proportions.
Well, Ok so Sania mirza is not properly observing the rules of her religion. Her dress is inappropriate for a Muslimah. So what?
In light of some remarks I have read about her figure and body parts, all I can say is that’s the very reason a Muslim woman is advised to cover herself and dress modestly so as not to draw attention to her body. But if Sania Mirza has chosen to accept all this as part of life and part of the game then so be it. It is her choice.

The bottom line is-she is who she is. Full stop.
Should we be going after her passing judgments? The answer is of course NO.
Why?
Because it is not up to us to judge anyone.
I don’t really understand where these clerics get the authority to expel people from their religion when it’s clearly written in Quran:
“When (the righteous) hear vain talk, they withdraw from it saying: ‘Our deeds are for us and yours for you; peace be on to you. We do not desire the way of the ignorant’. . .O Prophet (Muhammad), you cannot give guidance to whom you wish, it is God Who gives guidance to whom He pleases, and He is quite aware of those who are guided.” (28:55-56)

As Muslims, we should just live and let live and let Allah decide who gets forgiveness.

About throwing her out of her religion, I am sure she would be treated much better in any other religion in the world other than Islam. And by the way who is anyone to throw her out of some religion. The sin of denying somebody of their relision, is in no way comparable to the trivial things Sania is being accused of.

Sania Mirza took Indian Tennis to the international level. Yes there were a few before her, but right now she is the only one, and she is definitely the only Indian female tennis player at the international level. Dear Muslims, be proud that this person is of your religion rather than comment on a silly thing like her dress. Dear Indians, be proud that she is such a national figure that she is relied upon for spreading information about prevention of AIDS through out the county rather than have a problem with she trying to spread the information to the ppl who have pre-martial sex. Who are the ppl who are likely to get and spread AIDS? The people with more than one sex partner. These are the people who have to be targeted for spreading the information. Infact, premarital sex is better than extra marital sex! It is agreed upon that pre-marital sex is not really the best thing to do. But people are doing it. So the info about safe sex must be spread, even to them. Why accuse Sania for all this!!!

Puis plus rien. Je reviens délicatement à la charge une semaine plus tard, pour apprendre qu’il y a beaucoup de réponses, et que “le processus de recrutement est toujours en cours”… Mouhouhhh ! Et là encore une semaine, évanouie en un clin d’oeil, toujours rien. Enfin si, l’annonce a été actualisée, cette fois le poste est au pluriel. Dois-je me dupliquer pour mieux les harceler ? Leur écrire un roman ? Passer le niveau 8 ? Faire la tournée des lieux de culte ? Ranger l’appart une bonne fois pour toutes (…) ? Grrrmmblll… Géopotinage – Pickled Politics – De quelle longueur doit être la jupe d’une joueuse de tennis musulmane ? – Visiblement, il y en a qui ont des trucs à dire. [...]

We could turn this into a cussing match of people slating each other’s religions, or we could responsibly discuss issues. What a strange phenomenon when it is the Quran and the Sunnah that are supposed to bring Muslims together not the fact that they are Muslims.

I don’t appreciate people coming here merely to troll religions. If you have a point about how people (Muslims, Hindus whatever) conduct themselves, fine. But your theories on the Qu’ran or Islam in general are downright trollish, annoying, and a waste of our database space.
