    Hello All,
Another quiet weekend for me. The downside of living in the city centre at this time of year than it is taken over by shopping maniacs. What I suffered trying to buy a packet of snack a jacks today defies both belief and description. I wouldn’t be surprised if I wake up on Sunday with at least one bruise the size of a small dog.

If it wasn’t for the hardest working man in retail, Mr Choudry of the High Street branch of Shop Smart I’d be living on bits of cardboard by now. His shop seems to be the only place unaffected by the annual wave of consumer madness.

This weeks video is topical in so far as it features a bear causing mayhem. Happily the bear who to the best of my knowledge does not have a name doesn’t land anyone in the clink and is a rather funny bear as these things go.

As usual lets have your plans, jokes and lighthearted stuff below.

hah! hold on, what was actually going on before the bear comes running out? Really bizarre.

I’m playing poker with mates later tonight… IT’S PAYTIME!

‘what was actually going on before the bear comes running out?’

I’m far to ladylike to give a honest answer to that one.

Good luck with the poker -if you win will you be buying all the picklers a pint?

He should buy us all a pint- especially as Pickled Politics brings in about a million pounds a week from advertising revenue. Most of the money is secreted away in Swiss bank accounts, but there must be enough left for a round.

If he ever wants to funnel any of it to the Labour Party, I’d be happy to help.

Hurrah! All that remain is for Sunny to win at poker then tell us where he’s taking us.

Ian Brown asked me to score for him and I failed

Kismet you poor thing. Still that Mr Brown could do with a night off the chemicals in my view.

      Sunny,
This is very bad news, very bad indeed.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) - In chilling security camera footage, a female suicide bomber sent to murder a Sri Lankan Cabinet minister is seen patiently answering questions in a bustling government office before calmly standing up and detonating the bomb hidden in her bra.

Today I have been following the Venezuelan referendum.
On the day that Mr. Chavez managed to get unlimited mandates, it is worth remember this pickled article: Welcome Mr. Chavez. This is what I said back in May 2006 (#60):
“I must say that I am somewhat dissapointed to see the Left treating Chavez as a hero of some sort. It will be incredibly difficult to remove this person out of power, and Venezuela will revert back to its dictatorship years.”

    12. Ravi Naik — on 3rd December, 2007 at 12:21 pm

Spoke in haste and disappointment after the government announcing victory, but Chavez did lose the referendum, and will not be president for life. Rest assured that Chavez will try to undermine Venezuela’s democratic constitution again. Maybe he may get an extra boost from Ken Livington and the Left in the UK? Though had he won by a majority in this referedum, would that be a victory of freedom of speech, or the tyranny of the majority?

well the man did go for a referendum didn’t he!! isn’t that democratic? look at our politicians.

    14. sonia — on 3rd December, 2007 at 12:32 pm

if he ignores the referendum - then that would be something to point to.

“well the man did go for a referendum didn’t he!! isn’t that democratic? look at our politicians.

He had to go to a referendum to change the constitution. But should democracy - through referendums - allow people (which in democracy means more than half) to decide whether to change from democracy to a pseudo-dictatorship, where it is almost impossible to change the person in charge? There is a reason why there is a limit of mandates, and why mandates are not more than 5 years.
