Yes, pigs do fly

Posted By Al-Hack On 15th November, 2005 @ 6:15 pm In Media, Current affairs, Humour | Comments Disabled

Remember the story about Halifax and Natwest banning piggy banks because they might be offensive to Muslims? The [1] media [2] loved the story, the [3] blogs [4] loved [5] it, but it was pure rubbish. Not excessive political correctness, just plain [6] made up.

Does it need to be pointed out that certain people jumped on this news with glee about “sensitive Muslims” without checking their facts? Nah, that would be too obvious.

You couldn’t make it up vol 87, from the sun..

Muslims win toy pigs ban
NOVELTY pig calendars and toys have been banned from a council office — in case they offend Muslim staff.

Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

Bosses acted after a Muslim complained about pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the council in the run-up to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

Muslims are barred from eating pork in the Koran and consider pigs unclean.

Councillor Mahbubur Rahman, a practising Muslim, backed the ban. He said: “It’s a tolerance of people’s beliefs.”

And one from the vault…

Israel trains pigs to guard settlements
JUSTIN HUGGLER
Independent, 29 October 2003
Jewish settlers in the West Bank are being asked to trade in their guard dogs for pigs. The animals, considered unclean in Judaism for thousands of years, would help protect the settlements from attacks by Palestinians.
A company which supplies guard dogs to the settlements in the West Bank has asked senior rabbis for approval under Jewish law to train the pigs. The company says they are better than dogs because they have a stronger sense of smell. Because they are considered unclean by Islam as well, their presence could discourage Muslim attackers.
The settlements, built on occupied land in contravention of international law, are frequently attacked. Many are surrounded by high fences and guarded by Israeli soldiers.
“Pigs’ sense of smell is far more developed than that of dogs,” said Yekutiel Ben-Yakov of Gdud Haivri, the company that supplies guard dogs to settlements. “The pigs will also be able to identify weapons from huge distances, and walk in the direction of the terrorist, so pointing him out. And this animal is considered dangerous by Islam.” Muslims also believe that dogs are unclean.
“The prohibition against raising pigs is well-known,” Rabbi Daniel Shilo, head of a rabbinical council for settlers in the West Bank, said. “But since this is a matter of saving lives, it will be permissible to have the animal.”
Despite the Jewish ban on pigs, pork is sold at many fashionable Jerusalem restaurants, though it usually has to be ordered as “white meat”. Pork and bacon is also sold by butchers in Jerusalem.
The Israeli army is thought to have rejected suggestions that pigs could be used to detect explosives. It seems that would have been a step too far.

Golly.

Can you blame us post Burger King?

Anyways, my grievances in general have nothing to do with muslims’ feelings, but the way the rest of society is now treating them like a glass menagerie.

I just thought it was yet another example of people not wanting to offend in the name of political correctness - and it really wasn’t that hard a pill to swallow.

I wonder if blowing something up in the name of vegetarianism would get meat banned in the country. Yea. Don’t wanna offend those blasted vegetarians now, do we?

Oh yea. Tiptoe around me, dammit, you bastards.

” Forbidden to you for (food) are: dead meat, blood and the flesh of the swine and that which hath been invoked the name other than Allah. ”
Holy Qur’an 5:4

So if you slaughter a pig so it writhes in unimaginable agony until it bleeds its grizzly death and chant the halal prayers, shouldn’t that make it alright to eat?

” Let him find out which is the best food ( to be had ) … Eat of the best foods We have provided for you . ”
( Holy Qur’an 18:19;7:160 )

I find bacon butties are the best.

Rohin, what with you being a doctor and all, is it true (according to a muslim website) pigs give you TRICHINELLA SPIRATIS, TAENIA SOLIUM , ROUND WORMS, HOOK WORMS, SCHITOSOMA JAPONICUM, PARAGOMINES WESTERMAINI, PACIOLEPSIS BUSKI, CLONORCHIS SINENSIS, METASTRONGYLUS APRI, GIGANTHORINCHUS GIGAS, BALATITIDIUM COLI, Tuberculosis, Fusiformis necrofurus, Salmonella Cholera suis, Paratyphoid, Bruceellosis, Swine Erysipelas, Japanese B-encepphalitis and Influenza?

‘cos I had a hot dog earlier and I’ve been shitting myself.

Pure nonsense!
Yes, it is forbidden to eat pork in Islam as it is in Judaism, but it does not say that the mere sight of a pig should make a Muslim squirm.
In fact Muslims are told to be kind to animals, including pigs.
Just because you do not eat something, does not mean you cannot stand the sight of them.
I also do not eat horse, but would I get upset if I see one?
I know a lot of Muslims indeed, do get upset at the mere sight of a pink cuddly animal……but then Muslims do a lot of other things as well, which are not really a result of Quranic teaching but blind adaptation of what they have seen their unenlightened forefathers following.

Fe’reeha,

Reminds of the hadith about the prostitute from Bani Isreal who was given Jennah after having given a dog some water out of her shoe. Now we all know dogs are najis but we can keep them for hunting and security.

oink oink.

Don’t forget Porky Pig.

Objectively Islam is in the midst of civil war.

#11 Comment By shihab On 16th November, 2005 @ 2:52 am

Seeing as someone just quoted the hadith, it’s worth considering that’s a holy book that professes to record the whole thus spake mohammed shpeel, based on the words of people who knew him, like, really well. Far be it for me to suggest any of them were telling porkies, but had there been a version of a news of the world reporter amidst them, it’d read: ‘a close friend said…’

#12 Comment By shihab On 16th November, 2005 @ 3:10 am

“Objectively Islam is in the midst of civil war”

From Wikipedia: An insurgency, whether successful or not, is likely to be classified as a civil war by some historians if, and only if, organised armies fight conventional battles.

America blanket bombs whole cities without warning, terrorists pack ball bearings in their pants

not conventional, not civil war.

#13 Comment By made in America On 16th November, 2005 @ 3:28 am

Shahib, give me specifics. Just what city did America carpet bomb? You piece of shit little muslim mutt. I’m so fucking sick of little animals like you equating America to terrorists. State some facts you clueless fucking loser. Better yet, go the fuck back to your third world country that you love so much. Enjoy your dollar a day if you’re lucky enough to be part of the 60% who have jobs at all. America is sacrificing way more lives than it need to in order to spare civilians. We could have flattened iraq in a day if that was the goal. People like you make me think it’s hopeless. You’re so fucking brainwashed that the only answer seems to be to nuke the entire middle east.

#14 Comment By shihab On 16th November, 2005 @ 3:45 am

Silly me. America didn’t bomb any city in Iraq. They just targetted a few army bases and secret nuclear plants (accurately, because they knew someone who helped them make them). Like you say, they spared civilian lives. The 100,000 civilians that died in friendly fire, well, it was friendly.

Much better for them than that horrid little saddam who is being charged for killing a couple of hundred people in 1982 (has it occured to you why he isn’t being charged with anything since? could it be because every warmongering monstrosity has america’s fingerprints all over it?)

And you’re right. Terrorists have nothing to do with America. They’re just doing it to impress the girls.

But, hey, I’m brainwashed. So much so that I can’t think of any other logical solution other than “that the only answer seems to be to nuke the entire middle east.”

I wish I was as level headed as you. Must be something in the cows you ate for breakfast this morning.

Thanks for your input. Now aren’t you needed on the Jerry Springer show?

#15 Comment By made in America On 16th November, 2005 @ 4:36 am

Didn’t answer my question. What city did America carpet bomb? And don’t mistake my middle east nuke proposal for anti-islam sentiment. I think san francisco would be a nice target as well. And spare me your al-jazeera on crack 100,000 iraqi civilian casualties. The terrorists have killed more iraqi civilians than America has. So did saddam. But you’re so fucking clueless and just plain stupid, that you’ll go on excusing terrorists and blaming America. Actually I think you’re too fucking stupid to be a muslim. Let me guess, you’re a 15 year old asswipe living in your moms 600k house in berkely, rebelling against the man… Yep, America supported saddam in the midst of fucking komheini. Therefore America is responsible for everything. Oh wait, you’re 15 and wouldn’t know about that. Get a fucking clue little boy.

#17 Comment By shihab On 16th November, 2005 @ 4:51 am

I love the way you took ‘a guess’ that I’m 15, then within five seconds became convinced that, yes, definitely 15. Reminds me of George Bush’s first comment when he heard about 11/9 (we don’t say 9/11 here because we like speaking proper English) was: ‘we’re at war.’ He didn’t say who with, just that he was at war. Is it the Iraqis? No. Is it Afghanis? Maybe. Let’s get ‘em. Hang on, wait, it IS the Iraqis. Does your local walmart sell anything other than proof-free puddings?

Oh and all those people killed, mosques burnt to cinders in fallujah and basra died at the hands of terrorists with their quaint penchant for giving their assaults cute little names like Operation Phantom Fury.

Now let’s get to the real crux of the matter. Just how fat and lonely are you?

#18 Comment By shihab On 16th November, 2005 @ 5:02 am

It’s a lazy and stupid thing to do, I know. But that’s what happens when people cry wolf (or not cry wolf, errr).

Might be worth writing to the [8] Press Complaints Commission about this one. Breaches of Clause 1 (accuracy) and Clause 12 (Discrimination).

#27 Comment By Vladimir On 17th November, 2005 @ 9:36 pm

Clause 12 (Discrimination) and Clause 1 (Accuracy), it is unfounded racial discrimination against muslims. It is not true one single bit as it has been said by [9] http://www.mediawatchwatch.org.uk/?p=290 . If anything it is the duty of the press complaints commission not only to bring action against the Express but also to ensure the truth is told. The express does not have a very good archive and so I have provided you with a link to anorther site where the headline is shown: [10] http://www.bigdaddymerk.co.uk/mailwatch/?p=455#comments.

What is quite worrying about this is the fact that this was on the front page, and not inside the paper, therefore anyone who was looking to purchase a newspaper would have seen this headline.

I hope that I shall be informed of the decision that the commission takes over this particular issue of unfounded racial hatered by a national broadsheet newspaper.

Reminds me of the story the Sun ran a few years back claiming that a Muslim shopper at my local Tesco store had complained and caused a scene because the carrier bags had a picture of a pig on them.

I asked on of the staff there if it was true and she said “Well it must be if it was in the papers”. None of her colleagues knew anything about it but it must be true if it was in the papers.
