Al-Qaeda bombs Karachi?
Is Al-Qaeda now targeting Pakistan? Or could it be a return of the sectarian violence? A bomb went off in Karachi a few hours ago, 8:50am local time. The Karachi Metblog says it was at a KFC restaurant. Five people are feared dead, more injured. The BBC says ambulances were seen taking at least 12 wounded away to hospital.

hope it doesnt effect the cricket
The blast coincided with the appeal hearing of Omar Sheikh against his death sentence for the killing of Daniel Pearl.
This quite clearly shows that the fight against terrorism must continue until we eradicate the Al Qaeda vermin and all that are associated with it.
Also the “Baloch liberation army” has claimed responsibility for the blast, but security experts say this is just a disguise to divert attention away from Al Qaeda type radicals.
Although there is a group called the BLA their attacks are usually focused on strategic targets such as railways, pipelines and roads. The mass killing of innocent people in a fast food joint bears the hall marks of radicals.
Good to see no-one in Pakistan trying to blame India for this – despite the fact the well known fact that Indian intelligence agencies actively support Balochi terrorist groups in Pakistan. Contrast this maturity with the pathetic way India started fingering Pakistan almost as soon as any bomb goes off there (e.g Delhi). Let’s hope one day India can follow Pakistan’s example and start confronting internal terrorism rather than blaming ‘foreign interference’ for every calamity that befalls a nation.

The BLA has officially claimed responsibilty, apparently they were trying to hit a state owned oil and gas facility near the KFC, but blew the chicken shop up by ‘accident’. Retards! Time to let ISI loose on these BLA goons.

“…. the fact the well known fact that Indian intelligence agencies actively support Balochi terrorist groups in Pakistan……”
Do you have a source for this “fact”.
If this were true and as you say the BLA has claimed responsibilty for this bomb then why arent you blaming India?
Both the Pakistani ISI and Indian RAW are well known to stir up trouble within their neigbour’s borders – anyone with a cursory understanding of South Asian affairs and the historic emnity between Indian and Pakistan should be aware of this.
However, this ignores the basic fact that – regardless of foreign support – indigenous terrorist groups DO exist within both Pakistan and India. Pakistan has matured as a nation to the extent that it doesn’t feel the need to shout India’s name whenever a bomb goes off in Lahore or Karachi. If there are Pakistani citizens willing to kill innocent people in this manner – they will be dealt with as an internal problem and brought to justice. Sadly, India has not yet reached such a level of development, and constantly blames Pakistan and the ISI for every act of terrorism under the sun. India really needs to grow up as a nation if it is to confront terrorism in a mature fashion, instead of treating the entire matter as a schoolyard fight with Pakistan.
Or it could be some bollocks like they see KFC an evil symbol of america – they come to our country, take our jobs, feed our people… Is there a McD in Pakistan?
Raz – Do you know any Indian terrorist groups which have declared war on Pakistan? Because I can mention you a few Pakistani terrorist groups if you like. Though I suspect you know them already.
Yes I do. There have been plenty of Shiv Sena/RSS types who have sworn to destroy Pakistan (e.g Maharashtra Military Force/Hindu suicide squads). RSS chief K S Sudarshan has openly called for the destruction of Pakistan What’s your point?
raz
Your comments are hilarious. The grim thing is that it is the very terrorist fanatics that the Pakistani Army trained and supported to murder infidels in India that has now turned on Muslims in Pakistan and seeks to slaughter Shias, Ahmadiyya’s and Christians, as well as any Sunnis that they dont like. As well as French engineers, Jews, Americans, and anyone passing wherever the bombs go off. The thing you forget in your declarations about the RSS is that the Pakistani state supported these groups with the intention of using the strategically to murder and kill in India, and now they have turned around and started murdering and killing in Pakistan. India has insurgents, nobody denies that. Pakistan has insurgents PLUS those terrorists it trained to kill Indians who have now turned around and started to kill Pakistanis indiscriminately. This cannot be denied.
Face facts even when they are sore and cause you pain – tne you can start to deal with the problem. Pakistan is happy when the suicide bombers slaughter kaffirs. When they start to kill their fellow Muslims they go abit crazy and show that they are in deep deep denial.
LOL, what a way to miss the point Jeet.
Nobody is denying that both Pakistan AND India suffer from terrorism – both foreign instigated and indigenous. The difference between the two is that Pakistan has matured to an extent where it can understand its own internal problems, and thus does not reflexively blame India for every atrocity that happens. Sadly, the same cannot be said of India, which continues to point the finger at Pakistan at every opportunity (ignoring the fact that India has more separatist groups than any other country in the world.).
BTW if you think the RSS doesn’t target Indians as well as Pakistan you must be having a laugh. Ayodhya? Gujrat? More people were killed in JUST those two riots than in the last 25 years of sectarian violence in Pakistan.
I posted on by blog that I thought that the fact that the LoC borders were opened despite the bombing in Delhi was a sign of political maturity in India and Pakistan and gave hope to a development of the peace process.
Unfortunately, this thread has made me pessimistic again. I’m not going to take sides, and only ask the question if supposedly horrible governments who have been holding up the peace process for years can refrain from making political mileage out of these attacks, why can’t you guys?
well… who knws what the truth is …anyone watch J Paxman doing the news ? He [JP] got shirty cause he thinks politicians get voted ‘in’ but intelligence officers know what to do …..someone should ‘aks’ the ‘CIA’ …after all…they started al-QIDA and probable started everythign else too [including my broken down old mini stuck outside my door since the Raj left Indiaaaaah]
reformist ‘mosulmann’ me worried ……what ‘reform’ …. which ‘islam’…. does anyone ‘know’ what they ‘know’ ….what I ‘know’ ….what he ‘knows’ ….I dont ‘know’ ….. is anyone important reading these forums ….or are we all uneployed bums left overs from the ‘raj’ kickin around ideas that are as old as time itelf ???
Hotchpotch – err, English? Know any?
Reformist – Ain’t got no beef brother, and I want peace betw Pak and India as much as the next man. India automatically does point the finger at Pakistan everytime, but it is probably because there are jihadi groups in Kahsmir who have been attacking and killing Hindus despite India trying to help those affected by the Earthquake. So much for gratitude.
The Shiv Sena crackpots – Well no one really cares for them outside Maharashtra anyway. They have never won many votes outside. And for all their rhetoric, have they killed any Pakistanis? On the other hand, how many instances are there of Pakistani groups claiming reponsibility when a bomb goes off in India?
Hey, nice blog though. Makes good reading.
Al-Hack, my point was that this time the Indian Government did not point fingers at Pakistan; instead it proceded with the negotiations to open the kashmir ‘border’.
Similarly, the Pakistani government isn’t blaming India but gettting on with trying to find out who was responsible.
Intersting, how the debate is focused on Pakistan and India relation, and the blame game, instead of talking about the blast. There are three people already dead.
My major concern is not that it could have an impact on “cricket” or Pak-India relations, but that it might cause hindrance to the already slowed relief work for the thousands and thousands of relief workers.
Any thoughts on that?
And I think someone asked if there was a Mcdonalds in Pakistan. Yes, there are several Mcdonalds, TGIF’s, KFC’s, Dunkin Donuts and Subways there.
not for long
There is no difference between AQ and the groups behind many of the “sectarian” attacks.
