  • Me vs Hizb-ut Tahrir, live on TV!

    by Sunny
    12th November, 2005 at 4:32 pm

ITN called me up today, and booked me for a debate tomorrow morning on the ITV News channel.

Update: It was supposed to be about the impact of new terror laws, but at the last minute the Hizb-ut Tahrir guy refused to turn up, and they changed the topic to talking about Tony Blair’s defeat over the 90 days detention law without telling me :|
Without my favourite whipping boys and with three hours of sleep - I’m surprised I made one coherent statement. Plus it was freezing in the studio.

I think there’s a five hour difference between the UK and Michigan (EST), and I’ve been know to be up at 3:30 in the morning. So, just in case, could I listen on-line to this and if so, do you have a live stream link?

      Go get ‘em, Sunny!

    2. Robert — on 12th November, 2005 at 4:50 pm

Winge winge winge. Spare a thought for the rest of us who’ll have to spend an extra five minutes tonight setting their video’s to watch it :-)

      Good luck.

I wasn’t that fussed when people said TV was dumbing down, but now Sunny’s on the box about ten times a year, I agree wholeheartedly.

I don’t pay my licence fee to see his ugly mug on TV!

Seriously tho - good luck old chap. I get that channel, so I shall watch with a hangover.

    4. Sunny — on 12th November, 2005 at 5:00 pm

Susano - unless you get Sky digital there, unfortunately not. ITV News don’t do live streaming of their programmes as far as I’m aware. If it was BBC radio then it would be different though. I’ll try and get my mates to record it on Sky digital and then make it a video file, though I’m not sure if it will be possible.

Robert - lol, thanks. Rohin - grrrrr!

Sonny thanx for the reply on my blog. If I did see any commentors saying all Muslims should be killed I would lay into them. I havent heard anyone say all Muslims should be killed, though I am aware this sort of thing has happened on LGF. There are biggots all round and they should be challenged one by one.

p.s. I am setting my alarm clock.

Go kick their asses Sunny !

… I don’t know if I can wake up that early

      : (

    7. PhatBoy — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:15 pm

      I’ll be watching… good luck.

    8. Bikhair — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:17 pm

      Sunny,

Kick thier butts with the Quran and the Sunnah. They will run like the dogs they are.

    9. Bikhair — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:18 pm

I gotta know why LGF is mentioned so often on websites. Is this a plug or are they that vile?

    10. Jai Singh — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:20 pm

Sunny, very best of luck for tomorrow. Nail those fascist psychopaths to the wall.

I’m by no means a fundie type, but in this particular instance I don’t think it’s inappropriate to say “God be with you.”

    11. Sunny — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:34 pm

Bikhair - LGF is the American equivalent of HuT as far as I can see. One uses religion as a cover, the other uses supposed moral superiority.

    12. Steve M — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:44 pm

Good luck. Get up early so you’ve got time to get your brain into gear. Sit comfortably, stay relaxed and don’t try to do it all in the first 30 seconds.

      Kill ‘em.

    13. Col. Mustafa — on 12th November, 2005 at 7:53 pm

      Nice one dude.
      Def watchin that.
      And England won too, yayyy.

    14. Bikhair — on 12th November, 2005 at 9:01 pm

Oh man! I just went to the Hizbut Tahrir’ site. These guys are sick. SubhanAllah….

    15. Siddharth — on 12th November, 2005 at 9:28 pm

May the Force be with you.

    16. The Don — on 12th November, 2005 at 10:04 pm

      Take them apart. Enjoy.

    17. jamal — on 12th November, 2005 at 10:25 pm

I hope somebodies going to record it and post it online?

    18. Yusuf Smith — on 13th November, 2005 at 8:52 am

What happened? It was just you talking about the anti-terror laws. Where was the HT guy?

    19. Rohin — on 13th November, 2005 at 12:11 pm

Well, I found it rather hard to watch as I was kind of blinded by the glare coming off Sunny’s shiny pate. But what I guess happened - Sunny will have real info, I specialise in speculation - is that the HuT dork chickened out having realised he has wasted his life on this dogma. He got to the studios, was accosted by passing Hare Krishnas and gave up his life of terror to retreat to an ashram in Shimla.

Or his bag blew up before he left the house.

But otherwise I thought you did well Sunny. I was looking forward to a showdown, but you coped ably with a last minute change to the topic.

    20. El Cid — on 13th November, 2005 at 12:33 pm

I’d be interested to read your thoughts on the following — the extent you think it’s for real, exaggerated or News International bollox /a>. Perhaps it might even make a new thread.

    21. Siddharth — on 13th November, 2005 at 1:17 pm

Sorry Sunny missed your appearance on the box. Was too busy organising a sleeper cell (was in bed). Hope to see you on the telly sometime again when I’m not too busy building paramilitary strength for the next Khilafah push. Attending all those stonings in and around London is sucking up all my time!

    22. Sunny — on 13th November, 2005 at 2:02 pm

I know! the guy from HuT didn’t turn up, and then they changed the topic without telling me :|

I was caught like a rabbit in the headlights, and plus it was freeeeezing in the studio. Did anyone see me shivering? :(

    23. Rohin — on 13th November, 2005 at 2:11 pm

Though…I’ve been on shows where it’s the opposite, studio lights making you sweat and look 1 - gross and wet and 2 - like you’re lying. So better cold than hot!

    24. Nush — on 13th November, 2005 at 3:20 pm

I am sure I can give you plenty of ammo :)

    25. The Don — on 13th November, 2005 at 3:49 pm

I guess you win by default. Not as satisfying, but makes a point.

    26. Steve M — on 13th November, 2005 at 7:54 pm

Isn’t it incredible that the guy from HuT didn’t show? Maybe he saw this blog and thought better of it.

    27. jamal — on 14th November, 2005 at 12:53 am

Thats disapointing. I was looking forward to watching a good debate.

    28. as — on 20th November, 2005 at 1:58 am

Like your really gona beat a HuT in a debate.

They would eat you alive, have you ever heard them debate, they are really really good.

You should be happy no-one from HuT could turn up.

    29. Sunny — on 20th November, 2005 at 2:13 am

I’ve already had them in a debate thanks, and have no problems cussing them.

    30. sonia — on 22nd November, 2005 at 2:00 pm

Rubbish the HuT are ‘really good’. . i had some ‘debates’ with them years ago - ha ha and boy was it fun. Couldn’t deal with me of course - so after about 10 of them tried to shout me down they said something like //oh go and talk to the ‘sisters’ and some ‘dutiful’ wife type person came and led me away..

not before they came out and said sth along the lines of ‘well you ain’t in a hijab so we aren’t going to listen to you anyway’.

Chortle Chortle. You know i’d forgotten about that one. i should go and blog it.

    31. Sayf — on 7th January, 2006 at 4:22 am

Sunny Man, Seriously you don’t have a leg to stand on as regards to Hizb ut Tahrir.

Saw you on Islam Channel, man they got you on a run :p
