More 4 on Usmanov controversy
More 4 News are tonight covering the blogger campaign in support of Tim Ireland and Craig Murray, started by Justin, for the 8pm news programme. I’ll be on there talking about this and what it means for trying to control free speech over the web. Well done to More 4 for being ahead of the pack. But it means I end up missing the Daily Show.

Ahh well, not one of my greatest performances, but at least they covered the story. Craig Murray couldn’t make it apparently and none of the Arsenal bloggers/writers wanted to say anything either.
Oh and I was under strict instructions not to refer too much to the case or controversy in case I said anything libellous.
I thought you did alright mate, especially given the restrictions. You made a pertinent point that we’re not a pitch fork waving mob out for blood well.
It was fine, did they let you know which questions they were going to ask you before the interview or was it just on the spot questioning. But anyways you got the main points across: freedom of speech; Blogs not just mindless thugs; and duty of care of webhosting companies.

As a Gooner I am certainly not happy about funny Russian money tarnishing my club and am also perturbed by the heavy-handed legal attack on bloggers’ free speech.
These are clearly 2 separate issues but they will become entwined. Is this man fit for purpose to lead our club?
No way! I’m firmly in the eff off Usmanov/Dein camp.
I hope to be involved in any anti-Usmanov campaign.

You did fine Sunny, you made the point in a calm and collected manner under the glaring lights, so credit to you for being able to do that.
These heavy-handed (read: understatement) techniques are going to blow up in Usmanov’s face. The story appears to be growing exponentially.
I also recommend everybody also read Craig Murray’s ‘Murder in Samarakand’ it is an astonishing book, crucially written from the inside the system by somebody with the balls to stand up and say what needed to be said about the corrupt Uzbekistan regime.

Especially now that Arsenal are playing ‘beautiful’ football and winning!! I wonder if Abramovich will make a trade of chelsea for arsenal. Arsenal fans beware!!
