  • EDL had threatened to shoot police on Remembrance Day

    by Jai
    14th November, 2011 at 8:30 am

More than 170 English Defence League members were arrested in London on Remembrance Day in order to prevent a “breach of the peace”.

The reasons for the arrests were the threats of violence which senior EDL figures had posted on the internet beforehand. Three EDL members who had been arrested were released specifically on police bail, with further inquiries pending.

The most incriminating message of all was posted by Michael Rafferty, a senior EDL leader from the group’s ‘Combined ex-Forces’ (CxF) division. As reported in The Independent, police have confirmed that Rafferty had claimed that the EDL had access to guns and would bring them to London on Remembrance Day.

Rafferty had also claimed that the EDL have snipers and other armed members, and were prepared to open fire against the police. A screenshot of Rafferty’s sinister Facebook message is displayed below, which includes Rafferty’s repeated threats of an armed war being started on the streets of Britain.

Michael Rafferty was subsequently stopped by police in London’s Whitehall area on Remembrance Day and searched for guns, although none were found on him. The EDL had also made direct threats against the Occupy LSX camp outside St Paul’s Cathedral, claiming that the protestors had ridiculed what the EDL referred to as “our religion”.

The Guardian have reported that the EDL posted Facebook messages threatening to burn down tents in the Occupy LSX camp if they were still outside St Paul’s on Remembrance Sunday; The Guardian have also confirmed that EDL members tried to enter the camp, with the most recent incident occurring on Thursday night.

Shortly after the arrests of EDL members on Remembrance Day, the EDL released a statement making the following threat against the Police and the British Government:

Of course, making threats is a repeated pattern of behaviour for senior EDL figures.

For example, EDL leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka “Tommy Robinson”), an ex-BNP member who recently claimed that Islam is a “race”, is on record as recently accusing “every single Muslim” of collective guilt and publicly making a direct threat of EDL-led retribution against what he terms “the Islamic community” en masse. Similarly, The Guardian have confirmed that EDL financier & strategist Alan Lake was the author of a horrifying “Final Solution” blueprint targeting the entire British Muslim population and anyone perceived to be sympathetic towards them, including death threats against British Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy PM Nick Clegg and the Archbishop of Canterbury (by tests forge richards). Lake is currently being formally investigated by the Norwegian police to ascertain his ideological influence on the terrorist Anders Breivik.

They were arrested for a “pre-crime” this shit is an after the fact fabrication, the slide toward a police state continues, The legacy of tony scumbag blair and the fucking labour party, may they all rot. I wasn’t EDL before but I’m done with those that claim they’re progressives, authoritarians is more like it. Fuck the progressives’ police state.

A ‘progressive police state’? That would be…interesting.

    3. John — on 15th November, 2011 at 12:38 pm

These EDL and BNP are appalling. There are serious issues that we all should care about such as The overpopulation of the UK and the rapid rise of a new European Philosophy and these nut cakes allow those who would impoverish and endanger us all to just connect everything that is in our national interest with lunatics.

    4. John — on 15th November, 2011 at 12:40 pm

The link to the overpopulation of the UK is Overpopulation of the UK.

    5. Bob — on 15th November, 2011 at 3:52 pm

This article is well-intentioned but poorly researched. It isn’t true that Rafferty is “a senior EDL leader from the group’s ‘Combined ex-Forces’ (CxF) division”. The EDL leadership publicly repudiated Rafferty and CxF after he and his friends were arrested and charged over an attack on a kebab shop in Plymouth back in July. The EDL issued a statement to that effect on 1 August.

I notice that the Independent has amended its report. Rafferty was originally said to be “a leading EDL figure” but is now described as “a prominent far-right figure”.

The EDL leaders are very happy to have the focus placed on Rafferty as they can plausibly claim that he is not a member of their organisation. It helps them to deflect attention from the fact that EDL itself instructed the Occupy LSX protestors to “disperse by 12am Friday morning”, and continued with the threat: “Our government may be too weak to deal with you, but these are our streets and We Are The People”.

open letter to the PP Community

      Folks

Rumbold is busy with a new job and he has little time if any at all right now. Sunny is massively busy with his own project and Lib Con and other things he has to do – so if we want to keep this community alive I think we have to take it upon ourselves to write for it.

I too am very busy but I am happy to write one article every two weeks and so if we have all of us doing the same we can get our vibrant community back.

This is too good a platform to let it die and so what do you guys think?

    7. Jai — on 17th November, 2011 at 11:23 am

The EDL leadership publicly repudiated Rafferty and CxF after he and his friends were arrested and charged over an attack on a kebab shop in Plymouth back in July. The EDL issued a statement to that effect on 1 August.

The EDL leadership have a history of “publicly repudiating” a lot of things when the situation suddenly goes wrong for them.

For example, they “repudiated” the terrorist-supporting senior EDL member Roberta Moore earlier this year, and yet here she is personally escorting EDL leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon during his arrival at the EDL’s demonstration in London on 3 September 2011.

They “repudiated” the notion of the EDL having members, and yet here is the EDL’s official leadership-drafted “Code of Conduct” which repeatedly refers to EDL supporters as “Member” or “Members” a total of 21 times.

They “repudiated” the notion of the EDL being fundamentally motivated by racism, and yet here is the latest public statement from the EDL on their official Facebook page explicitly confirming the complete opposite.

The list of examples of the EDL leadership’s so-called “repudiations” goes on and on.

As for the EDL’s threat against the Occupy LSX camp, clicking on the words “direct threats” in the main PP article above will take readers to an “EDL News” article providing extensive further details, including a screenshot of the EDL’s threatening message.
