  • Merciful Jesus It’s The Weekend

    by Clairwil

    Hello,
God what a pig of a week. I’ve been shouted at by a pre-op transsexual, abused by a fellow with no teeth who reckons ‘it’s my fucking country’ and bitched at by old birds.

On the plus side I’ve read several fine books on the bus, one of my clients was granted asylum, somewhere a guitar is twanging saucily and George Formby is great. So it could be worse.

I’m meeting up with the top boys of the Idlers Guild this week -it’s not too late to join us. Otherwise let me know your weekend plans, your idea of a perfect weekend, what you think of mice, the best way to eat chickpeas and anything else you fancy.

I’m going to go out on a limb this week. I will allow a little bit of politics provided it’s satirical but serious stuff is still banned. I for one have no intention of being made to feel guilty over my weetabix.

    Cheerio

can I promote my Dodi Al-Fayed Facebook group?

    2. Zak — on 1st September, 2007 at 8:54 am

ok a bit of politics, a quote from the independent that i liked

: “You need only do three things in this country to avoid poverty; finish High School, marry before having a child, and marry after the age of 20. Only 8 per cent of families who do this are poor; 79 per cent of those who fail are poor.”

What do I think of mice? I wouldn’t want to eat more than a dozen at a time…

    4. Clairwil — on 1st September, 2007 at 1:30 pm

      ZinZin,
Why in God’s name do you have a Dodi Al Fayed facebook group?

      Kinglear,
You’re not a cat are you?

    6. Sunny — on 1st September, 2007 at 2:52 pm

      That clip is hilarious!

    7. Clairwil — on 1st September, 2007 at 7:05 pm

The clip is from Curb Your Enthusiasm possibly the funniest comedy of all time. The above clip comes from an episode which is one of the all time greats.

      Clairwill,

No, the funniest is when this fool pickled up a prostitute just so he could drive in the car pool lane. you gotta see that one.

    9. bikhair aka taqiyyah — on 1st September, 2007 at 7:27 pm

      Clair,

      thats picked*

    10. ZinZin — on 1st September, 2007 at 7:29 pm

Why should Diana Spencer be remembered and Dodi forgotten? Dodi did a lot of good work for the British film industry. He was a film producer and gave the world Chariots of Fire.

For that reason alone he deserves a facebook group.

    11. Clairwil — on 1st September, 2007 at 8:05 pm

I wasn’t arguing he shouldn’t be remembered, merely asking a question. I suspect the reason Diana gets the attention is because she was more famous and was generally well liked.

    12. Clairwil — on 1st September, 2007 at 8:06 pm

      Bikhair,
I’ve seen the prostitute one, it is as you say hilarious.

    13. Kinglear — on 1st September, 2007 at 10:26 pm

      I think pickled is better

    14. Vikrant — on 2nd September, 2007 at 8:58 pm

    15. Clairwil — on 2nd September, 2007 at 9:01 pm

      Vikrant,
I’m green with envy. Enjoy the long weekend!

      Clairwill!

The new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is about to air in America and you can see some preview clips here:

      http://www.hbo.com/larrydavid/

I am literally jumping with excitement and was cracking up helplessly at a couple of the scenes coming up in series 6, tell me what you think.

    17. Jagdeep — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:08 pm

Any Sopranos fans? The final half of the final series just started on E4 but I already downloaded and watched it to the end. Greatest TV show ever. Each episode is a masterpiece of writing and acting and directing.

    18. El Cid — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:14 pm

I’m Sopranoed out to be honest. Used to be a fanatic, watching it on dvd maybe 3/4 times a week. But haven’t seen it for a while even though I’ve episodes in hand. I don’t know what happened to the nephew’s super-hot girlfriend after she got the FBI on her back and engaged. Assume she got whacked.
I just can’t see why women find an aggressive Latin middle-aged alpha male sooo attractive. ;)

    19. El Cid — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:16 pm

      Fabregas.. qual

    20. Jagdeep — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:17 pm

You’re far back in the series El Cid. The final series is incredible. So much has happened since you last saw it.

So Fabregas, how long will Arsenal be able to keep hold of him? What a player.

“I don’t know what happened to the nephew’s super-hot girlfriend after she got the FBI on her back and engaged. Assume she got whacked.”

I have never watched an episode of Sopranos, though I was curious about what she looked like based on your description.

    22. Jai — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:32 pm

I don’t know what happened to the nephew’s super-hot girlfriend after she got the FBI on her back and engaged.

The guy’s new onscreen girlfriend (fiancee ?) is even hotter.

    23. Jagdeep — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:36 pm

The guy’s new onscreen girlfriend (fiancee ?) is even hotter

Oh boy, you guys are in for a shock in the final few episodes.

    24. Ravi Naik — on 4th September, 2007 at 4:58 pm

Any must-see TV I should know about? Recently, I discovered “Arrested Development” which was cancelled after 3 seasons… but it is very funny.

    25. El Cid — on 4th September, 2007 at 5:04 pm

saw the blue brothers the other day with the kids.
      wicked movie

    26. Don — on 4th September, 2007 at 5:13 pm

      Jagdeep,

No spoilers, please. Been huge fan since episode 1. I try not to watch too many back to back though, as it induces a tendency to address the boss as, ‘C’mere, ya fat fuck.’

    27. Jai — on 4th September, 2007 at 5:44 pm

Any must-see TV I should know about?

“Two and a Half Men” on the Paramount Channel, Mondays at 9pm. Stars Charlie Sheen and one of the guys who was in the Hot Shots movies with him.

Not really suitable for kids (ironic, considering one of the main characters is a 12 year old), and quite outrageously badmaash blokey humour.

Wiki link here for an overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_and_a_Half_Men

      Some quotes: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369179/quotes

      Some favourite one-liners of mine:

(Charlie Sheen admonishing his brother for letting his ex-wife fritter away his child support alimony payments): “You’re like an Alzheimers patient in a wh*rehouse — you’re constantly surpised you’re getting screwed, and you don’t want to pay for it”.

“You don’t get the virgin to the volcano by telling her you’re gonna push her in”.

(Charlie explaining to his young nephew why he thinks it’s sometimes okay to lie to the ladies in one’s life): “A clueless woman is a happy woman”.

You get the idea. Very badmaash indeed. Your momma wouldn’t like it, and (probably) neither would your girlfriend, unless she fancies Charlie Sheen.

i thought I had some good news for you guys, but the headline is misleading and therefore appalling:
