I’m heading down to [1] Climate Camp tomorrow to check out what’s going on, take some pictures and meet people. If anyone wants to coordinate going there, [2] email me.

Good stuff! Oh yeah make sure you speak to people first before taking picture, they’ll think your FIT otherwise and it’ll add to the feeling of siege the police are trying to create.

good luck sunny, mind you next time you fly to LA you might be on the receiving end of the picketing line, so don’t tell the activists around you that you are a frequent flyer!

If any eco warrior disrupts my and my family’s holidays, I will lamp them.
I hope others do too.
Who do they think they are targetting the August holidays?
Bunch of *****
Do they risk losing support?
What you think?

The checked baggage allowance is 15kg per person (no infant allowance).
NO POOLING/SHARING OF BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES IS PERMITTED, EVEN FOR FAMILIES/GROUPS TRAVELLING TOGETHER ON THE SAME RESERVATION.

I hate ‘em, i hate ‘em, i hate’em
Memo to Ryanair. Never fly with those ***** again, even if the alternative is more expensive

Sunny,

why not ask them about China’s role as
the world’s worst polluter?

#10 Comment By Sunny On 16th August, 2007 @ 10:26 pm

Modernity, I think it’s highly unfair to think environmentalists are not concerned about pollution from China.

But there’s two points to be made here:

1) Per capita, westerners are more polluting and put away more garbage than the Chinese.

2) People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

#11 Comment By Bleh On 16th August, 2007 @ 11:21 pm

The point is, Sunny, any action towards reduction of pollution *must* involve China and India and other developing nations. It is worthless if it doesn’t.

#12 Comment By Sunny On 17th August, 2007 @ 12:03 am

Why must it involve them two?

1) Is it that without them there would be no difference to world pollution total? No.

2) Can the west not invest more in sustainable and renewable energy without involving China/India?

3) Can the west not lead the way in cleaner living, given most of the previous pollution and destruction of the environment has been our fault?

Just saying it must involve them, when eliminating poverty through growth is more a concern for them than the UK/US, is an easy way of passing the buck and inaction.
That is not to say there aren’t a whole load of environmentalists in India also agitating.

But it’s rather lame of the UK to invest zilch in renewable energy or do little to find ways of sustainable living and exhort others to do so.

I’m with El Sid on this one - I frequently fly to Ireland and Amsterdam, and I have no intend on giving that up.

I do support the rights of these protestors to protest, however, I do think the activists from Plane Stupid deserve a size 12 steel toe-capped carbon bootprint up their miserable green backsides.
