    Everyone’s talking about it

by Sunny on 11th August, 2007 at 3:34 pm

This video was mentioned in most of the papers yesterday, having now racked up over 11 million views. I’ve seen it before but I think it’s worth posting. Who says animals don’t have emotions? Watch it ’till the end, it has twists.

Saw that a while back, it’s brilliant. Been on safari in Kenya but never saw anything as dramatic as that. When the crocodiles come into the whole thing the situation goes up another level. Wish the crocs had caught one of the lion’s that would have been boss. I was definitely on the buffaloes side. That’s what it’s like to have a crew covering for you.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

I can’t wait to return to the Kruger National Park. Some of my best memories of South Africa lie there. Seeing that big cat fly was amazing.

      Wow that was something else!
The animal relationship that has always struck me is that between the leopard and hyena — exploited hero versus socially organised exploiter. Not quite a Marxian metaphor, but close.
According to our guide in Zambia, the classic hyena strategy simply is to follow the leopard and steal its catch (works 70-80 percent of the time — no kidding).
As you all doubtless know, that’s why the leopard — when it can — drags its catch up a tree.

Not as special as made out, I think.

I felt sorry for the Lions, they need to eat too.

I must confess, I was expecting one of the lionesses to be tossed into the river and dragged down by a croc, or the sudden appearance of the pride’s alpha male, or an alien invasion…..
      There’s no pleasing some people.

“I felt sorry for the Lions, they need to eat too.”

You should write for the Guardian, mate.

El Cid- Of course it was entertaining, but Animals protecting their young isn’t anything particulary unusual, especially for mammals.

Everyone has to admit Lions are cooler than a glorified Cow.
