Further to my recent article highlighting Guramit “Singh’s” ongoing doublespeak and religious hypocrisy in his public statement responding to the excommunication ultimatum, the English Defence League’s “Sikh” spokesman has issued a very long, extremely dishonest “open letter” directly addressing the numerous British Sikh supporters & signatories of the joint statement which condemned the EDL and any Sikhs who join them. I’m not going to link to the EDL’s website directly, but if you Google “EDL open letter ideological opponents” then you’ll be able to locate the letter. Alternatively, you can read it in full via another website here.
As a Sikh myself, I’ll address a series of extracts from Guramit’s rambling letter:
“I’m writing with regard to the document you signed, a document issued to you by members of the turban campaign, something that slanders not just myself but also the English Defence League…..This is me reaching out to all those people who have been hoodwinked into believing slander from the ideological opponents of the EDL…..This was the turban campaigns next lie, as you can probably guess this is getting ridiculous considering that members of the turban campaign claim to represent the whole of the Sikh community, I would never claim such a thing. I only represent those who are sincere to our cause no matter what colour creed or religion”
False. Guramit deliberately uses the characteristically Sikh name “Singh” during his activities in conjunction with the EDL, even though it’s not actually his real surname. In Guramit’s previous public statement, he explicitly claimed that he considers himself a “servant of the Sikh Nation”; he also explicitly made the dubious claim that he considers the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh scriptures) to be his “Guru” and that Sikhism has “taught him a lot”. Guramit has also now issued multiple public statements, in writing, repeatedly claiming that the EDL are the modern-day ideological counterparts of the 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh’s historical Khalsa, and repeatedly referencing (and grossly misrepresenting) Sikh theology & history in order to justify his own actions.
Furthermore, Guramit is on record as explicitly referencing Guru Nanak (the founder of Sikhism) during his public speech to the EDL in November 2010, including quoting sacred verses from the Guru Granth Sahib, then deliberately modifying the words in order to completely change their meaning and connect them to the EDL, and subsequently launching into a sadistic obscenity-laden diatribe gleefully demonising Britain’s entire Muslim population. Due to a BBC documentary in December 2010, Guramit is on record as publicly referencing his Sikh background and making falsified claims about Sikh theology & history in order to justify his extreme hatred of Islam. The EDL have recently also deliberately escalated their hijacking of overtly Sikh imagery, as discussed on Pickled Politics here.
“Why would the EDL want to be linked to the BNP? We don’t, but our opponents want us to be! This was their first lie, an eye-catching opener to engage any right-minded people who abhor racism.”
False. The EDL’s extensive links to the BNP have been heavily documented, particularly by Hope Not Hate/Searchlight. For example, the EDL’s leader Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka “Tommy Robinson”) was a member of the BNP for several years, and he can be seen attending a BNP meeting in the photograph from 2007 at the top of this article. Furthermore, the man who can be seen in the photo standing and speaking is the BNP’s former Deputy Chairman Richard Edmonds, previously a senior National Front member, and the closest ally & long-term supporter of the BNP’s late founder John Tyndall; the latter is on record as describing Hitler’s Mein Kampf as his “bible”. Numerous other senior members of the EDL have ongoing direct links to the BNP and neo-Nazi groups, including EDL founding members such as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon’s cousin, Kevin Carroll; it’s quite a long list, and worth reading in full.
In fact, Guramit’s own secretary Hel Gower (mentioned by Guramit in his letter) is on record as publicly supporting both the BNP and the neo-Nazi “British First Party”, as confirmed by the following screenshot from Facebook:
“Now they wanted to issue me with an ultimatum, served up with a generous helping of blackmail…..This was nothing more than a publicity stunt, a vicious and untruthful way to spread vile propaganda….I know it’s hard to believe, but everything that’s written in google is not gospel. My auntie googled me the other day and said to me she couldn’t believe they were talking about the same person.”
False. Extensive video footage of Guramit’s interviews & numerous public speeches is available online, unedited and in full. Furthermore, assuming that Guramit’s questionable claims about his “auntie” are even credible, her surprised reaction is perhaps an indication of the scale of Guramit’s two-faced duplicity towards his own family.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Guramit’s lies continue to escalate in the rest of his letter, including calculatingly falsifying Guru Gobind Singh’s religious views, promoting falsified propaganda about the EDL’s real agenda which Guramit has directly contradicted in multiple BBC interviews, and he even descends to exploiting his own grandmother as a political pawn. These issues will be highlighted in the concluding part of this article tomorrow.
