Actually, they have reported that the FAC criticised the UK handling of the incident (read it in the papers yesterday I did, guv'nor!) but it looks like they 'forgot' to mention the important part about y'know...the map being wrong.

Obviously they don't want the MOD/government to look more like prats then they already do about their recent Middle Eastern foray in Iraq...

Actually folks, that's not an Australian story but a British story that's been picked up, with no attribution. Hell, I thought the author's name was familiar!
But you're right to point it out: it is bizarre that it wasn't reported more.
Maybe we should blame the floods

Maybe they didn't know! And were too embarrassed to admit that oversight, given how everyone sees them as bastions of knowledge etc.

how did the australians find out? and what about other news providers in the UK? Why are we focusing only on the bBc's failure to provide this information - what about everyone else? it wasn't just the bbc that focused on the navy folk selling their stories - everyone was!

seems to me this is one situation where most of the UK media were behaving in much the same way. B

With the right wing, Blair and the neocons accusing the BBC of bias, the it is likely to be more careful.

The BBC is being bullied into adopting a Fox like agenda as a rah rah cheerleader for the right.

Look at the sheer number of right wing bloggers who attack the BBC because it dares to report against them.

Soon politcal TV will be come much like the media in America. If you don't tow the line then your pass to listen to the President and his men will be removed.

The BBC is facing a barrage so it is hardly suprising that it tows the Blair Line.
