WORLD EXCLUSIVE:

A Sikh politician from Southall who was a member of the Labour Party last month is still a member. Mr. Singh, 57, allegedly defended his controversal decision not to defect to the Tories.

However, we must remind our readers that this rumour is as yet unconfirmed.

Sunny Hundal was asked for his opinion on the matter:

"It is a clear blow for the Labour Party", said Sunny, "as their plan to get all their councillors to leave has now been derailed."

‘I know of no business of the size of Sunset Radio where the MD would be aware of every four-figure sum transaction …’

Errrm, it now appears that Comrade Lit, as he then was, actually handed over the cheque. Still, you can't expect every MD of a business this size to be aware that a cheque made out to the Labour Party is actually a political donation... unless they are as thick as a brick, that is.

Unity is quite right that as a director of Sunrise (he was certainly MD at the time the cheque was written and is still listed on some of their more obscure web pages as such), Tony Lit cannot disclaim knowledge. In any case, it was his FATHER who wrote the cheque, not some faceless corporate high-roller.

PT - would you knowingly attend a Labour fundraiser - which it quite clearly was? Probably no more than I would attend a Tory event. And then there's the embarrassing picture with Blair.

And stop running about being the net police on this issue - you are looking like a fool.

The level of Tory defence on this issue apperst obe in direct proportion to the embarrassment they are feeling. Grant Shapps appears to have the midas touch in reverse. Everything he touches in this campaign turns to Lit.

PT - I expect the lawyers of those broadsheets have already given legal advice over the issue and have okayed it. You don't have a leg to stand on mate, as Unity has pointed out too in detail.

Sunny - you might be right (although some of the articles I read made a clearer distinction of what they were alleging), but that's no defence in the law. Like Tom Watson, you seem to have taken the view to publish and be damned. Your call.

Jesus H Christ, PragueTory.

Everywhere I go today, I find you, making a twonk of yourself. Come on, dude, why are you defending someone who is clearly a slippery reptile?

One minute he's a Labour donor, the next he's standing for the Tories. Stop making a pillock of yourself, and concentrate on the real question: why is this allegiance-switching pancake being allowed stand for your party?

Now that's a scandal.

PT

1. Stop whinging you complete embarrassment.

2. What Lit knew or didn't know about the cheque is irrelevant - as a director of Sunrise Radio he is still as responsible for the cheque as any other director.

Also odd are the “Vote Lit” banners that still persist over this blog. One of the foibles of internet advertising is that you can’t really pull the ad if your message is at odds with the editorial.

It does represent a rather amusing twist in the advertiser/client relationship. I wonder how many other people are wishing they could advertise a product and remain editorially in control?

Anyway, back to the increasingly hilarious by election...am I alone in thinking the last few weeks would make a great tv show (think In The Thick Of It)?!

PT,

'I know of no business of the size of Sunset Radio where the MD would be aware of every four-figure sum transaction ...'

That makes sense if you are talking about photocopying or office humidifiers. But are you seriously suggesting that the MD was unaware of a political fundraiser at which he was present?

'To equate a company’s spending on a dinner table with a director giving personal support to a political party is ridiculous...'

The dinner was a political fundraiser. How is that not support?

And by the way, alluding to lawyers and requiring that a blog change a post which displeases you is not 'a friendly warning'. It's a mealy-mouthed attempt at bullying.
